Alright, so anyone who's been keeping up with the Song of Ice and Fire book series or the TV adaptation probably knows that things aren't going well for Westeros right now. Civil war is tearing apart the nation, and now there are five different kings (and one queen who isn't part of the war yet) going around and declaring themselves to be the true rulers. So the real question is: which do you like the most? Will it be the honorable Starks, the puritanical Stannis, the spiteful Greyjoys, the beloved but mostly useless Renly, the sadistic and evil Joffrey, or Daenerys, the resident "Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-War"?

Keep in mind that this is whichever king you think would be the best for the job or you personally like the most, not necessarily the most successful in the books themselves. If you want to pick a king that gets killed off early on than feel free, this is all about how you think they would do as the person sitting on the Iron Throne.

Personally, I find Robb Stark to be the most likable and admirable of the different factions in the civil war, simply because he's just so damned brave, kind, and honorable to others (even if that doesn't always work in his favor).

Out of all the different kings vying for the Iron Throne, however, I'll have to go with Stannis, due to his sheer, implacable determination. The man is simply unstoppable: it doesn't matter to him that he has the smallest army, the least popular support, and the fewest allies because by all laws and rights he IS king- and he's not about to let anyone take that away from him. He's faced with constant setbacks and disasters, the people he trusts betray and leave him, he's forced into defeat and retreat and humiliation but he never let's any of that stop him. He doesn't even particularly want to be king, but to him it isn't a matter of what he wants: he is Robert's only true-born heir, and he must become king or die trying.

Stark, just because he isn't that shithead Joffrey. How I would like to set his royal pants on fire...

Well, continue reading the series. Or watching the show as I'm assuming this is based off of Season 2.

Things get nasty quickly.

Stannis for two reasons. He is the next legitimate heir to the throne after Robert and he has Davos as one of his lieutenants.

It's hard for me to support Robb:

knowing what his fate is. Yes, it shouldn't change my opinion but it's tough to root for the losing horse in the race. And a horse that loses so spectacularly at that, too.

Although, he does have the Blackfish supporting him and that guy has badass written all over him.

Daenerys Targaryen, it has to be her. She's the only one who's shown wisdom, charisma, and the ability to build a kingdom that wasn't practically handed to her. And she's managed not to tear it to the ground by making stupid, willful decisions. *cough*Robb*cough*

And there's the fact that difficult it's be enthusiastic about dead people.

At least that's what my girlfriend said when she broke up with me.

Not sure what she entirely meant, really. You don't think...?

I don't really support any of these guys
There is another but I don't really want to spoil

every other king is dead by the end of the third book ha ruined it for you
Stannis is a dick
Robb gets his head cut off
Dany gives a slave city to an even worse tyrant
Balon falls off a bridge
Renly got stabbed
Joffery Choked to death

I go for Aegon Targeryen (Rheygars son) cus he's the only guy who actually has a claim plus dany'll probably join him

*Wonders if anyone in the entire world would vote for Joffrey*

Is there a option for none of the above? I don't like any of them. Robb still acts like a spoilt child a little too much for my liking, Stannis has no personality, Renly is far too effete (not a comment on his sexuality, a comment on his will) Balon's a dickhead, Joffrey is Joffrey and Daenarys is played by a drama school reject. But more seriously I don't like her, she's just not very interesting.

Stannis, because real kings break before they yield.

Seriously though, because he seems to be one of the characters that actually earn it.

Also; Melisandre.

Well, Robb I think would make the best King out of all those options. He's got the strength of Stannis without also being a total murdering twat racket.

Daenerys has the longest legitimate claim, and she already makes a good leader on a smaller scale but I get the feeling she would totally abuse the power of a Queen if she got it.

To be honest though, pretty much anybody other than Joffrey would do. I want to see that little cunts head on a spike when the next king (whoever that is) takes over, and I want Tyrion to be able to talk his way out of getting executed somehow.

Most of these people are dead and/or dying.

So... Go Team Corpse!

Four of those six contenders are already dead, why would I support them?

Daenerys has the most legitimate claim, but there's always her outside-bet relative waiting in the wings.

If he's still alive that is.

So let's just say I'd go with House Targaryen

You know, read the later books and you'll realize that Dany is possibly the worst option out of the remaining... ah alive kings. Stannis is stone cold yes, but at least he's not insane... yet.

Aegon, yes the famed murdered baby, seems the safe option me man.He lived with the people and learnt their ways, which is as humbly and kingly as you can get.

Gotta go with Robb Stark. At least in the North.

Daenerys Targaryen is awesome, and if she wants the South I'm cool with that, but I think Robb has earned his "King of the North" title.

Stannis, if he's good enough for Davos he's good enough for me
He's also the only one that bothers to help the Nights Watch. Sure, that might be a tactic to win support from the realm, but without the Night Watch there is no realm.

Dany is a nice girl and all but I don't like the idea of her trying to take what's hers with fire and blood. But
I like what she's trying to do in Slaver's bay, liberate slaves and all that jazz. Maybe with a few more advisers, she can sort out Merren, Yunkai and Astapor. Then bring her dragons over to kill some Others. Then we'll see about crowning her

It does seem like he'd make a good king. I'm not sure he even really is a Targaryen, so that would get rid of the problem of him possibly being mad. Varys praised Aegon a lot, to Kevan. He had no reason to lie, as he was about to kill him.
But if we want to go with another possibly dead, (possibly) Targaryen, who has learnt how to lead, there is all ways Jon.

Possibly Stannis because he doesn't want to rule. He wants to do his duty and is incorruptible. For now. Not exactly progressive though and he's pretty much Melisandre's puppet.

Robb wants to settle a greivance. Doesn't want to rule, but it's an ignoble reason. Besides he's like 15 or something.

Dany because she reckons it is her birthright. Well woopie fucking shit. Plus she's 14.

The Iron Islanders are a nation of rapists, so they can all fuck off.

Renly is a popinjay who loves attention. I mean really, why does he want to rule?

Joffrey should be in a home because he is mental. Also he is 13.

So yeah, I'm going to go with Petyr Baelish. He is like the Tony Blair of Westeros.
