I just go buy my games from whoever is cheaper. To be honest I only have a choice between three stores here in Ireland and one of them doesn't even stock PC games.

One thing that annoys me about Gamestop is that they're always trying to sell me insurance for my games.

Let me repost what I said on the other thread you made. I'm not yelling, we all know of The Escapist: Land of the Vanishing Polls.

I don't, I've gotten treasures for a few bucks in their bargain bin.

They're the only place I buy console games from, mainly for the pre-owned games.

They irritate me, and it seems like they gouge the prices for many of their products, but I can't say I have any real antipathy for them.

I think they are okay, where my university is located it is the most reliable place to get games unless I order online. I haven't had any real problems with gamestop.

I have no problem with Gamestop. In fact, it makes getting older games pretty convenient.

where else would one buy their games? other than ebay, which requires you to wait like 10 days between deciding to get a game and playing it?

I vote yes, simply because the Gamestop I shop at contains the most annoying sales representatives. I have had bad experiences with them.

But let me tell you somethings I hate Gamestop besides the salespeople. You shop at Gamestop, they sometimes give you exclusives. Sometimes these make the games easier. So you pass them faster. So you finish it sooner and sell it back to them for less than half the price you paid for. And then sell it back to other people for close to the original price.

Ex. I bought a game for $59. Sold it back for 22. The used price they sell it for is $55.

And yes, I know I don't have to use the exclusive items. Yes, I know I do not have to sell the game back. But you gotta admit, that is some hard business sense consumers have to swallow.

Sometimes you get screwed over but I don't hate them. I can get some cheap games here and there.

We don't have Gamestop here in Australia, but what we do have is EB Games (which I think is owned by them yeah?) Either way these guys are usually really good. Not the cheapest prices but they are always willing to match lower ones. With trade ins they normally have deals running that if you trade in a game before a certain date you get a lot more cash back. I bought the new MOH for $78 on launch and traded it back in a week and a half later for $88!

Sounds like someone needs a U Mad? poster, but I wont be the one.

OT: no, I dont. I have generally good experiences in game stop. a friend works there, so I get the employee discount (three times, and each time its a discount of the discount price) so i usually end up paying five bucks for games, and he'll sell me new games that he keeps for me at the used price. But its more then that. The one I go to is well run, when they do events they take care of the people there (order food/drinks, help set up things if it rains/snows/sleets/weather is just generally bad, and keep order in the store. And most of the games there are really good quality.

So no, Id ont and I dont understand the hate for them. Its a Business, they need to make money, and are obviosuly doing something right when people talk about them so often (even if its negative publicity). People seem to forget that little fact.
