I play mostly shooters, I find them more intuitive than other games (you can tell I don't own any consoles, can't you?). I like the immersion factor they grant as well - an FPS with a well-written and well-executed storyline, to go with the typically high-quality graphics, can be incredibly gripping. Plus, FPSs beat every other game out there that involves a 3D realm in terms of the goddamn camera. Everyone who's played a Capcom game knows how bad the camera in third person games can get...
That said, I'm very new to RPGs, the only one I've really played being Hellgate: London (which hardly counts). Oh, and Bioshock, which doesn't really count either. So I'm waiting for a good RPG to come along and surprise me. I've had a stab at a couple more - Deus Ex, KotOR II - but gave up on Deus Ex at the goddamn stealth tutorial and I haven't yet returned to KotOR2 since my brief test run, having discovered that the game had apparently never heard of controls. Ah well. I'll have another go at both of them at some point in the future, but at the moment I'm happy with my stack of FPSs, Chaos Legion, and Peggle. Ah, Peggle...
