Gameplay, especially since I hate the graphics in most modern games; everything just seems too shiny.

Definitely gameplay...its good to see its the majority vote here.

Graphics do help though, but it isn't what I look for.

I go for gameplay - sound/music (I listen to the game/sound music, and quality sound is more important than graphics for me)...and then in 3rd place are graphics.

Obviously gameplay. There are so many shiny games out there that control so bad that they're hard to enjoy.

Gameplay and Graphics go hand in hand. Gameplay can make graphics look much better due to the action and immersion. Likewise, Graphics in a game like, GRID or Project Gotham allow the game to really show off the engine and look nice as cars go motion-blurringly-fast by. And also, the crashes look pretty in next generation graphics.

I still voted for gameplay though.
Good one. Gameplay takes priority, but good graphics make everything a little better.

Could this have been an easier choice?

Fuck the 360 for may 4 player co-op games and then making you only able to play 2p coop on a single system
The point of making this comment was... Banhammer anyone?

Gameplay definatly although Graphics do help, owadays most games look pretty but have dull gameplay about time this changed
...wtf? they only do this because the graphics are to good to run all 4 players off of 1 system.
I'm commenting on this because Id rather have less good graphics and be able to play L4D with my friends on a 360
That's not the 360's issue, that's the developer's choice.

Gameplay over graphics for sure, but good art style and/or graphics helps immersion which helps the experience. And if graphics ever get in the way of gameplay then we have a problem.

Screw graphics. I enjoy FFIII better than FFX, cause it's more fun. Given the choice I'd rather a fun 8-bit game than a boring photorealistic one.

I always like balance. Good gameplay, good story, decent graphics, but overal gameplay is more important. A pretty game with bad gameplay just dosen't work out to good. Good gameplay, little under rated graphics, that's ok. But mostly, as long as there's balance, but bad gameplay is bad.

Gameplay gameplay gameplay. Graphics are like the pretty wrapping paper, can make you excited about a gift at Christmas, but after you throw that on the floor and realize it's wool socks the paper doesn't matter that much.

Gameplay.

Note the Wii doesn't have either.
That's simply not true...Twilight Princess is an example of good gameplay combined with good graphics. They may not be "OMG We have 8 video cards and a bluray player, lets shove that down everybody's throat and make sure all our games are as impossibly difficult to produce as possible. That way the gameplay will suffer but we'll still make cash cuz it looks pretty! *Manly high five*," but they are good.

Personally I favor gameplay much more than graphics. Unfortunately somebody somewhere did a research study and somehow found that most people want better graphics and little to no actual gameplay value. Which means game producers lose the software engineers and hire all the 3D modelers they can find. At the end of the day all the real gamers look at all the "Ooo, Shiny!" gamers and glare, knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that those people killed the industry for those who wanted to play a game and not watch cutscenes for several hours (Yes MGS4, I'm looking at you and your PS3 host).

I look for quality Gameplay. But if the Graphics are so bad that it detracts from the experience, that is when Graphics become important
Same as this, while gameplay is what usually defines a game's quality it's hard to fully enjoy it if the graphics are substandard to our current generation (looks at that mediocre FPS attempt The Conduit). Of course I still enjoy old N64 favorites of mine despite the graphics because they were innovative for its time and the game was fun and full of flawless gameplay that the graphics of today in comparison don't hamper the experience.

Overall, the impact of graphics is usually only determined by it's generation.
