My girlfriend just recently got into Disgaea. Since she's never played a tactical rpg before I have to help her out a lot. But she's a completionist and she loves the characters and the art style. So once she gets her head wrapped around the game mechanics I'm sure she'll take the game farther than I ever did. (There's tons of content after the main story I never touched)

She got me into pokemon and Persona and our roles were reversed with me having to ask her something every five minutes.

So, do any of you have, or have had, a gamer girlfriend? Share your experiences.

PS. We recently bought a bearded dragon lizard. We named him Laharl. :)

My wife plays pretty much all the games I do. Except RTS's she doesn't like those. About 1/2 the women I've dated played games in some form or another. Few as much as my wife.
Opposites attract but only if you have similar interests. Gives you something to talk about.

My girlfriend kinda is, she doesn't play them that much on her own but she always plays them here. Recently I think she's getting into them more, she bought World of Goo and has preordered LA Noire for the 360, so that she can play it at mine.

My gf plays Super Smash Bros. and a few other games to kill some time, but she's not hardcore into them. We play together sometimes, but neither one of us are super into them.

One ex-gf was a gamer... we just preferred different types of games.

Me: FPS, TBS/RTT (OK, Total War), FRPG
Her: JRPG (we tried to convert each other, never happened, not why we broke up, incidentally), cricket sims (o_0' eh?! she has a thing for Andrew Strauss... yyyyyyyeah...) & driving games

Wouldn't be too bothered if a GF was a gamer or not. If not, she can nag me to get on with my work (which I'm supposed to be doing now... a bloody literature review of sorts which I am genuinely interested in...), if she is, cool, let's get shooting.

Never had a girlfriend and only know one girl who plays games. Unfortunately she only plays games like Halo and CoD and general mainstream stuff that's just plain boring (in my opinion). If I met a chick who played Pokemon or JRPGs in any form I may even break out of this damn shell of mine and make her my girlfriend. Though the chances of that happening are way too low for me to want to think about.

My girlfriend tricked me when we started dating and told me she likes video games. She doesn't... well... not many. Turns out she used to play when she was younger. So the only 2 modern games I know she likes are Sims 3 and Assassins Creed lol. Oh and I suppose DJ Hero/Rock Band that type of game.

But mostly I game on my own... it kind of sucks. I'd like a gamer girlfriend.

Talk to them like you would anyone else dude. They have bewbs but they're the same creatures as your mom, your teachers, etc etc. Just because they're cute doesn't make them some foreign visitor you need know a special language to speak to.

If you're getting nervous. Then you're simply caring too much. You get wrapped up in "What if she likes me. What if she doesn't like me. I really hope she likes me. Oh god I hope she likes me." It's like diving off a diving board. If you start thinking about what might happen if you slip, or fall, etc etc you'll never jump. Stop thinking. Defiantly stop caring. And just go. The chances this girl is "the one" is next to zilch so you're getting nervous over nothing.

It's takes practice. But you'll get it if you try. Trust me, I use to be paralyzingly shy when I was in high school.

The girl I'm currently dating (actually my first GF ever), is pretty big on gaming.

While she's not as into it as me (at least I don't think so), she still really enjoys it and plays quite a few games on her own. The first time she came to my place, and I was showing her my game collection she saw No more heroes 2 and immediately asked if she could play it. Which surprised me greatly, and now every time she drops by, she plays it for an hour or two.

Now, while her gaming "technique" is a bit lacking (for example, she has a lot of trouble doing a QCF + Punch), her "instincts" are pretty good (quickly identifying safe spots in NMH2 boss fights, for example).

We just started playing Crystal Chronicles together (the gamecube one with the GBA hookup needed), and within half an hour she had picked up the mechanics and was doing just as well as I was, if not better.

I feel REALLY lucky to have her. Not only is she cute, smart, fun, and nice, she's also a pretty good gamer. And with a bit of practice (if she was so inclined) she could be amazing.

If I ever got a girlfriend, and she played video games, she probably wouldn't like the same ones I do. No one else I know in Real Life does.

My fiance's pretty into games, but she works full time so she doesn't have quite the same amount of time to play them as i do :)

I used to date a girl who was ~kinda~ into games. This was a while back. She would play Champions of Norrath with me on the PS2 and she had a Nintendo 64 that she used to play with, but I wouldn't have called her a gamer. Since then none of the girls I've dated have shown any interest in video games.
