Nope. But thats partly my fault...since I prefer to date guys. Though I do hope to be one eventually (gamer girlfriend that is). If my guy doesnt game, I dont expect a long lasting relationship.

Though they better be fine with losing to me alot :)

My girlfriend just recently got into Disgaea. Since she's never played a tactical rpg before I have to help her out a lot. But she's a completionist and she loves the characters and the art style. So once she gets her head wrapped around the game mechanics I'm sure she'll take the game farther than I ever did. (There's tons of content after the main story I never touched)

She got me into pokemon and Persona and our roles were reversed with me having to ask her something every five minutes.

So, do any of you have, or have had, a gamer girlfriend? Share your experiences.

PS. We recently bought a bearded dragon lizard. We named him Laharl. :)
There was no option for, "Married a hard-core gamer girl, we've been together 11 years, just spent the past 3 hours teaching some noobs how to play Dungeons & Dragons Online, and who runs our weekly Dark Sun tabletop D&D campaign."

So I just picked "yes" - though she's more of a "gamer-wife" at this point. ;p

Yes. Two were that way before I met them. Three were that way "and still are" by the time I was done with them.

Maybe it's because I always start them with something very socially based such as wow or halo, but by the end of the first 6 months she's playing them every day by her own accord and usually looking forward to some new release.

Gamer girl here (writer for gamergyrl.com actually) and have always wondered whether or not guys preferred ladies who game. When I whip out my imported Japanese PSP or take over for a friend in a SSFIV match, guys always seem more stunned than excited.

Is it possible that girl gamers are too intimidating?
Quick story: About 7 years ago a friends girlfriend (now his wife) challenged me to play Tekken 3 against her. I barely won, 13-12 in matches. I tried to act cool and said I would've been cool if she had beaten me.

Back then I would've been pissed if I got beaten by a girl. Girls couldn't game, or at least that's what I thought. Today, on the other hand, I'd love to find a girl that could smack me around in Street Fighter IV.

So something changed in 7 years. Maybe I just matured, I don't know. But I think you're on to something with guys being intimidated by girl gamers. Some guys at least, we might see gaming as "our" hobby and we don't take kindly to trespassers.

Yeah my missus is a gamer. Unfortunately she isn't anywhere near the same level as myself [she started gaming when she was 17, I started when I was 6] her playing co-op games can get a little frustrating.

I met her at a heavy metal club one night, found out we both liked Xbox, swapped gamertags and spent the rest of the next week playing L4D2 together [albeit on Easy, Normal usually resulted in her screaming down the headset], went on a date the week after and we've been together ever since.

Nowadays the only thing we both play together is World of Warcraft. She's just gotten to 85 and is having to learn heroic dungeons.

I spend a lot of time apologizing to tanks and healers for her blissfully unaware she is doing it ninja pulls.

My gf is an old skool gamer, since the NES days, like me.
Can't do RPG's and point an' click, but kicks my ass at any FPS.
But recently she''s been interested in Mass Effect 2,
so i'm coaching her on the couch, dialog options, levelling etc.
Quite fun to get her hooked on an RPG.

Damn it! I voted 'No' before I noticed that 'No, but I really want one option'.
Suffice it to say, YOU LUCKY BASTARD!!
I have no luck with women, I don't even know how to talk to 'em nevermind pursue relationships.
Quick bit of advice that helped me learn to talk to girls. Calm down, you are talking to a human being. Just be cool and be yourself, no one is looking for a bad time and no one is looking for somebody who can't be themselves. Thinking about that helps, trust me.

Well, it's not exactly high up on her list of hobbies, but yeah, my Gf plays the odd game.

I'd say it goes like:
Reading, films, comics and music, with games being last. I would say the main thing that puts her off is the pressure. When a molerat snuck up on her in fallout 3 she dropped the controller and yelled.

Heh, I enjoy that far too much. :D

i am a gaming girlfriend, and i've had a couple of girlfriends who were kinda into games and one who was a Guild Wars addict. i'm the kind of girl who's more into gaming than anyone she could possibly date, male OR female. i can kick my boyfriend's ass at Reach, and he knows it. i wish i knew more girls into the type of games i like, though, like Blade Kitten or Record of Agarest War, games where there's either really fun platforming or where the characters are actually a factor in the progression, unlike your run-of-the-mill FPS where the story progresses by you shooting everyone in the face with your machine-gun-testicles. (no offense to FPS-fans. i like FPSes, but the story is just too weak in most of them, which is why i restrict myself to Halo titles and the rare non-Halo title which i think looks promising.)
I have to ask... were you just saying you don't like first person shooters with weak story, yet that you play the Halo series in the same sentence?
You just completely contradicted yourself honey.
Also, Blade Kitten was fun for about 5 minutes til i realise the controls were like walking on ice. I wasn't even able to keep myself occupied enough to finish the demo.
The gameplay left much to be desired.

eh, i got into Halo back before i was a hardcore gamer, ie middle school, and have played every Halo (with the exception of 2) since. it's kinda been a guilty pleasure, like the new My Little Pony cartoon.
i personally enjoyed the gameplay of Blade Kitten. i personally found it to be the game's saving grace, as its story was poorly told, which makes it ironic that i consider it one of my top five games that i played last year. i'm hoping the webcomic it's based off of covers the events of the game in the flashback arc it's currently in so i can have a better understanding of it. (and maybe hear how it ends, since the damn game leaves off at "Continued in Part 2!" and the company behind the game shut down.)

Voted 'No, but i really want one'.

Normally i wear my AssassinsCreed tshirt whereever i can and try to spot a female pair of eyes looking at the logo. So far - no luck, but i keep trying.
Dunno why, but i have a hard time finding them online. Where are all the gamer partner lounges? ;)

Nope, I play games, she doesn't.
Games are my fun unwinding "me" time.
Her's is playing keyboard.
Variety, is the spice of life, if she was just like me then it would be weird.
