I just joined the escapist Publisher Club. Which $20 a year. I decided to do this after the DDOS attack. I felt the best way to support #GamerGate is by supporting one of the few websites allowing for open discussion of event. I figure defending a website from cyber attacks cost money. and its wasn't a lot for a years worth. What do you think?

What really pushed me into signing up was spite for GamerGate actually. A bunch of idiots decided that because a thing they didn't like was posted here they were going to abandon the Escapist and cancel their subscriptions, so I signed up the next day, because spiting hyperbolic, hypocritical, conspiracy nuts made it worth it to me. The extra bits are certainly nice though, and I'm glad to support the Escapist.
I sort of think it's funny you two signed up for opposite/same reasons. Well, the escapist wins out on some money either way.

OT: Good for you if you like the features. I didn't know there was an exclusive member group. I sort of makes me wonder what happens behind closed doors in that forbidden cabal.

EDIT: Stupid question, but what show is your gif from Lifecharacter?

I'm glad you did, your avatar now has 50% MOAR head-desk.

I signed up to pub club because i use that which cannot be mentioned for my sanity. Honestly hadn't been near a game site till ZP started here because the 2 i knew about (Game spot and IGN) where pretty much just arms of advertising companies.

I'd say it's worth it for the benefits alone, but the Escapist (for the most part) letting people chat about all the hullabaloo is a nice bonus.

I always operate under the assumption I'll be banned soon. Twenty bucks seems a lot for a couple weeks.
And here I thought believing the end was near would have people act more risky. xD

Actually, that brings up a neat question. :/

If you get banned you lose all the profile benefits in that you can't really enjoy them when you can't post or whatever, but would you also lose the "no adds" part too if you have Pub Club and get banned? <.<

I'm in college. Do you think I really know what money is?

Stuff of legends, it is. I weep eternally.

But yeah, I don't think I utilize The Escapist enough to justify paying for PubClub. I wouldn't get much out of it at all. Still, a day may come where I do choose to support this site. It may even be fairly soon.

From what I've heard from mods and such, it's just your posting privileges you lose when you're banned so you could still enjoy no ads and high quality videos etc... and browsing the super-exciting Pub Club forum too I guess :p

None of your benefits go away. I suppose you could argue that bigger avatars/custom titles are kind of useless without the forum but getting banned does not affect your PubClub member benefits.

EDIT: Curses, I got ninja'ed by JoJo! I shall now refer to this instance as being JoJo'ed!

Wait, that means that even if you're banned you still get to use the publisher's clubs forum?

Is there any "zombie" users in there then?

You wouldn't be able to post there but you should in theory be able to watch the high octane hijinks that happen in those pages. Funnily enough banned users can even join user-groups even though they can't post in them, we've had one fellow by the name of DVS join the Injustice League post mortem.

What's more villainous than a member of the undead? They're a staple.

Anyway it's disappointing that there isn't any ghouls. It would have been like ascending to a higher realm, where those who once passed lived once again, or on the flip side of the coin horrors would continue to haunt users for a single payment of 19.99$.

Wellllll, if the world was ending, I'd probably do something risky. But if I got banned tomorrow, I'd still be alive and out twenty bucks I could spend elsewhere.

I don't like the idea of paying money for extra features that become next to useless, should the mods decide to ban you.

So no, it's unlikely I'll ever subscribe to this.
