The hell does bengay mean?

I don't really see why games need to be more gay. If you are heterosexual man playing an action game with an awesome hero, do you really want to see the hero making out with another dude?

Imagine if MGS3 Snake Eater had Sigint as the love interest instead of Eva. Hmm?

Deconstruct it far enough and being gay is a sexual preferance, so is preffering under age partners. Then we start getting into dangerous waters. I don't like to get too involved because we are supposed to feel pity for one sexuality and despise another. Why are there parades for one and court sentances for another?
...I feel genuinely frightened by your assertion and people who think in such a way.

You don't know gay people, you've said it yourself. So maybe you shouldn't compare this massive group of (sometimes estimated as) 30% of the total population to pedophiles, and condemn a group of people you clearly know nothing of.

Well in Skyrim I married the first great hairy bear I could and the black knight has never been happier to feel included. =]

I'd like the option more often, i mean it can't be hard to include it as an option in games where romance options exist, so long as it isn't shoehorned idc.

You feel frightened by people who have a differant opinion? I never condemned gay people I just shrug. To my reasoning a sexual preferance is what you prefer to have intercourse with and often it isn't a choice. Some people are born gay, some develop it over time or just go through a phase. Just think its a bit odd that we advocate one group and are meant to do the 'right' thing and support them while condeming other minorities who share the same trait of being differant.

Moar gay, if only because its funny seeing the c***s at fox news getting all riled up. And most of my friends are bi, so they'd hopefully enjoy gaming more.

What's bengay?

I know no gay people because like I said, in England its no big deal.
Idk, I went through high school being open and it was pretty hellish, and I encounter a fair bit of discrimination based on my orientation and i live in England.

That said it's like water off a ducks back, i couldn't care less what they think of me.
It's definately less of an issue here than the US though, much less extreme opinions on the matter and I definately found people at uni more accepting of it.

30% of the world is gay.
That is a huge, ENORMOUS falsification and exaggeration, the only stats we have indicate that 4% of people are exclusively gay, worldwide. If you count bisexuals you are looking at 7.5%. So you are way off there.
Not sure what you're going off of, but I'm guessing wikipedia or the source it used which is...well, flawed.

The confirmed percentage increase a little each year, suggesting people were simply lying. And most american's think it's what I said, reflecting that there are clearly a lot of gay people out there, many of whom keep it under wraps, contradicting the statistical with the personal:

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/05/americans-have-no-idea-how-few-gay-people-there-are/257753/

This article supports the questionable statistic, but I just wanted to point out how many people support this idea that there are more gays than the numbers support.

Several sources state percentages over what I said, some under what you said, some in between. I shouldn't have brought percentages into it, I guess. A statistic on this sort of thing won't be accurate for another hundred years, really. I apologize for that.

Most LGBT members say that the overestimate is a good thing, as it shows people are starting to know more and more openly gay people and accepting them. So...I guess at least it's a good thing to be wrong about? I dunno lol.

For me at least, in the North-East we take the piss to show we care. The common greeting around my friends is "Areet shithead." to which the response is "Ah fuck off ya twat." Everytime something happens we just rip the piss out of eachother. We have thick skin over here, can't speak for anywhere out of the North East however but insults and people saying shit really doesn't matter. People use Gay as an insult which I find hilarious because I'm pretty sure a gay person won't be insulted by getting called gay. People can say and do what they want, i really don't care unless its something I feel deeply passionate about then it gets real.

Its hard for me to grasp it as well as americans because like I said I know 1 lesbian and thats it. Surely your Uni experience didn't involve getting beat up or murdered.

I've always thought it would be cool to create a game/movie/TVshow where we get to follow the protagonist like 3/4 of the way into the story before it's revealed off-hand that they're gay. Up until that point their sexuality just wouldn't come up at all and it wouldn't dramatically affect the story from then on. It would simply be a minor detail. I'm tired of everything treating homosexuality like it's a big deal one way or another.

It would be especially cool if it was a character that didn't really fit any gay stereotypes. They would just be a regular character that anyone could relate to.

Sorry, but I'm in England too and people do care. You do anything other than conform to the set "This is how a man acts and dresses" and you get funny looks, whispers and people shouting at you in the street. That is not accepting.

Ehhh, it would be nice to have more options with things like that, as many people have said the way Guild Wars 2 does it is very elegant indeed, at least compared to Mass Effect 3s shoe horning. This isn't about pressing views onto other people, it's about getting people to accept that homosexual is equal too heterosexual relationships. Something, that we still haven't achieved unfortunately.

Next thing you know transgenders/transexuals/phedophiles/beastiality is going to want to be represented in gaming . Stop forcing your views on people ! Then again enchanted arms had an idiot , and gay guy and a transgender as the main cast ...

As for me personally . I'm not homophobic, but i don't want homosexuality shoved in my face , and forced upon me in my games . It would be enough to stop me from buying a game i want .
Wow. It's disgraceful to describe putting gay or transgender issues into a game on the same level of frigging pedophilia.

And you're not homophobic but gay characters would mean you wouldn't buy a game? Yeah, sounds real consistant.

OT: Putting in token characters is never a good idea, but if it fits with the story and everything, it would be great to have more gay characters in games. It'd be nice for younger gay people to have a role model, it certainly would have helped me.

most of the time characters are not defined by their sexuality because it is not a issue in the story. ME and DA did have gay characters (mostly good one imo) because that mattered. it would be far annoying to have a guy/girl scream the fact he/she is gay all the time when there is reason for knowing that.

but i'm always for more gay people in games, not because i enjoy gays on a sexual view, but it offers interesting plots and character stuff in the story. sadly vocal people do disagree with me like we saw with the DA2 debacle on Anders.

so yeah, i'm ok with more gay people in games, so long there is a reason for knowing the fact and not just thrown in for Political correctness.

Discovering one's gender should never be a revelation nor is it worthy of focus. If someone says that they're gay or lesbian, you act as if it's as normal as saying you're a man. You don't answer "Whoa, I never knew that." You answer with "Good for you. Now let's go back to our previous discussion." And if they try to force the subject back after your normal answer, then they actually crave the attention and do not focus on the normality of homosexuality.
