Some kind of RPG/MMORPG based on the world of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" sequence could be quite good fun. Also a MMORPG set in Discworld. And maybe one in the alternate reality of the Night Watch series.
Most book-to-game options I can think of involve MMORPG's. I guess it would be an easy way to do the thing.

Perhaps the Dresden files could work as an RPG from Harry Dresden's (or some younger member of the white council) perspective.

Oh, and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Based on years of Batman comics. Don't know if you could argue that they're 'literature', but it's certainly a game based on the world of a book.

So I guess I'm vaguely suggesting that a game could be based on the world of a book, but not the book itself. Given the inherently story-driven nature of novels, there would be far too much exposition and too many cut-scenes in the resultant game for it to be enjoyable.

Silly rabbits, all stories are linear. How could they not be? What varies is the presentation.

And let's keep novels of ideas out of the game industry. Dune is not about what usually makes up a video game and would be as bad an adaption as 2001: A Space Odyssey. They are simply not compatible.

Ender's Game might work though. As would Neuromancer, for instance. If done right.

Som of the Books by China Mieville would be brilliant but hard to do :)
2001 a space odyssey would be great too.
