Have we already forgotten how Skyrim was The Greatest Game Ever Made for about 3 months? Whatever happened to all those people?
Despite loving the game, I never claimed that. Morrowind holds that prestigious title :p

OT: Doubt any of the games on the poll will elicit that level of hype from me, but Persona 5 may come close.

I really wanted to vote for a lot of titles in the poll. I went with Something Else, thinking of Below, because that game grips me every time I see it, and because I just couldn't decide between the other titles listed.

Persona 5, Bloodborne, and MGSV maaaaaaybe considering both have had a track record of their previous great titles paving the way to something greater, whatever that "something" is.
For those 3, I'll stay cautiously optimistic.

But...
Xenoblade X has a higher chance, since after finally playing Xenoblade Chronicles... all I can say is, I'm really feelin it!!! Monolith can only go waaaaay up from their previous game. I mean... free roaming RPG with mechas? No... there's something more beneath that, I just know it.

Well that makes no sense the game is in developement, Nothings final yet.
They want to know what you think and do listen to feedback, that's what open developement is all about.

How is it like the Witcher Series Camera, which is a fixed 3rd person view (For 1 and 2. I think 3 also).

Star Citizen viewpoint is up to you, you want 1st person you choose that, you want 3rd Person you choose that. You can choose your preferance or switch between viewpoints when it's suits you. What's not to like about freedom to choose for yourself, it even has Occulus Rift support for the ultimate immersive view.

As for Greatest Game ever, Nothing unreleased can have such a title, which is a purely subjective matter. This is a pointless exercize in hype, don't hype games you're sure to be dissapointed.

Much like the Escapist Games of the Year Nominees, all AAA publisher titles and predictable rubbish. Take a look at Total Biscuit's choices of his Games of the Year. I don't agree with most of them, but he justifies each decision and I believe they are his own choices and not limited by what company published them. Ubisoft made nothing, called AAA, of merit this year. Watchdogs, Far Cry, AC: Unity and the Crew are essentially the same game repackaged over and over again, Far Cry is the last game redone, even the engine is unchanged.

The only AAA Published games that deserve to be even in contention are Alien Isolation and Shadow of Mordor.

I'm A RPG fan who looked forward to Dragon Age: Inquisition, I was bitterly disappointed in it, the Main Campaign is ridiculously short and only takes 5 to 10 hours and according to Origin thats out of 240 hours, reality is 120 to 160 at most. The Main campaign should be at least 25% of that not 2.5%
It is basically a single player MMO, I mean weapons are rated by meaningless DPS.
As I wrote on DA:I Forum
Having just finished playing this game, the only good thing about this blatant MMO styled game, is it's actually single player.

DPS, what a load of MMO rubbish that is.
I have a Staff With 78 base damage, +32 against demons +20 Cold Bonus, 20% Guard Penetration and 10% Barrier Penetration.

Fighting
Fire Demon=78 +32 +20 +10% B
Pride Demon using Guard=78 +32 +20% G +10% B
Red Templar Mage using Barrier=78 +10% B
Red Templar Archer out of Barrier Range=78

Yet somehow my DPS=160

Replace Staff with any type of Weapon in the game, nothing actually changes.

It's a meaningless Statistic, 160 damage per second against which opponent, using what defense. Pick any one that it applies to and that means it can't apply to the others as well, whatever weapon it is and whatever the class using it,
DPS actually tells you nothing useful at all with magical weapons, only using the base damage makes any sense for DPS and that's already given as a separate stat.
You must stop the Main Campaign and do Side Quests just to reach the required Level, as a non MMO player I call that grinding. (I know it's not what they call grinding, I don't care what they use it to mean.)
I should be able to complete the Main Campaign, by only doing the Main Campaign, if I choose. It's so short you can't do that.

Well, it's still stuck in our imagination -- And what makes for a greater game than that, right?

Realistically, Arkham Knight. The ball is back on Rocksteady's park and they've always knocked it out. I believe in them.
Not sure about Iron Batman though. And Arkham City was already starting to stumble a bit.

OT: Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee has already been made, so what are we even talking about here, people?

I've already submitted that idea, and looked at the forums but it's very much a heated topic.
I tried finding the newest quote I could, but it's a mess to simply search freelancer camera so the most official one is at the top.

To clarify, I want the HUD available when in third person view, just like in Freelancer and Darkstar One.
The view feels very cramped otherwise and I have great difficulty measuring distances and such.

As for the Witcher, I did not mean that the camera is the same in both, just that the camera is what makes me unable to play those games.
The Witcher has an Over-The-Shoulder view that entirely skews the perspective when in first person and the isometric-like camera does not work well with the combat and existing camera controls.
Had it been an option to view from an ordinary over the head camera or a free flowing one in isometric I would likewise have no problems.
I simple want more options. I don't want to remove others choice to have OTS or FPS camera in those games.
Alas, it is what it is and I will move on to other games..when they exist.

--

Apologies for the slight detour in the topic but having a view that works for me is a must when it comes to "the greatest game of all time" and I brought up games that came close (and the reason for why it didn't make it).

Definitely the Witcher 3. I mean show me one other Open-world RPG that has:
-Amazing combat with a lot of weight behind hit.
-A really good story with well written characters.
-A big open world where you can explore.
-a huge variety in monster to fight.
-Good side quests.
-Good graphics.

Now granted the witcher 3 isn't out yet and it may fail in all of these areas, but that's very unlikely because so far from what I've seen and read in interviews, the combat and animations looks stunning. The world looks absolutely huge. It's confirmed that there are over 80 types of monsters in the game, and also that every side quest was hand crafted. Graphics looks amazing and CDPR has proven them selves with the first two witcher games that they can tell good stories with interesting characters.

Seriously does anyone know of any games that have that has all of those features? Because I sure as hell can't find any.

I'm gonna likely throw a new one down on you, but I'm really excited for The Mandate

If that's a fraction of what it's shaping up to be it's going to be good, if it pulls it all off....then yeh it's a contender

None of those even has a remote chance of being one of the best games of all time.

None of them have me hugely excited. We've seen games looking better than all of these that have ended up flopping around in the dust. I guess I'm keeping an eye on Witcher 3, but I'm not expecting huge things from it given its predecessors.

Honestly, I think we should be looking at best in genre of all time, which is much more realistic. Possibly Xenoblade 2 for JRPGs and Silent Hills for Horror. Note that both of these are sequels to arguably the best games in their genre.

Games of 2015 I actually care about enough to be interested in:
Batman: Arkham Knight
Mighty No. 9
EVOLVE
Splatoon
Silent Hills
Warhammer 40,000:Eternal Crusade

Game with the most potential to be completely epic:
Warhammer 40,000:Eternal Crusade

Games I expect to disappoint me:
Warhammer 40,000:Eternal Crusade

Games I'll be impressed if they're as good as they could be:
Batman: Arkham Knight
Splatoon
Silent Hills

Games I'm actually excited about because they're almost certain to be good:
Mighty No. 9
EVOLVE

I'm kind of curious why you thought the game was such a let-down.
To make it as quick as possible:

-I wasn't a huge fan of the tone. It just felt like it was taking the darker aspects of the first to an extreme while almost completely removing anything that was a little bit lighter (minus some of the more painfully awkward humor). Overall, the first game pretty much nailed the balance for me, so seeing the second miss it so badly was a huge disappointment.
-With the exception of Roche and Iorveth, none of the new characters were interesting, and even those two were nothing more than stand-ins for Yaevinn and Siegfried from the first game. Well, Letho was incredibly interesting, but I never got a chance to interact with him much (not sure if you meet him more often along Roche's path).
-I wasn't a huge fan of the overarching plot. The stuff carried over from the original game (the racial tensions, The Wild Hunt, etc.) were still interesting (if not sometimes barely developed from the first), but anything that was just contained in The Witcher 2's plot was sort of boring to me. Then again, outside of chasing down Letho, the focus was mostly on politics, which I found to be unbearably predictable.
-The world design felt really constrained. Outside of just the invisible walls I found, there were no real open environments quite like those from Chapters 1 and 4 from the first game, which were my favorite environments from that game. I guess this may have changed down Roche's path.
-The combat, potion system, and interface just all had major and minor issues that built up to be a constant annoyance. By the end of the game, they had completely destroyed my patience with them, which left pretty much all of Chapter 3 and the Epilogue as a slog I just rushed through rather than trying to actually experience. I almost didn't even complete the game because of them.
-Dice Poker! This thing was an incredibly fun distraction in the first game, and I always looked for opportunities to play it. The changes they made to it in The Witcher 2...yeah, I'm going to stop there. This post is already far longer than I intended it to be, and I can rant on this thing for a long, long time.

Those are the biggest issues. There are plenty of minor issues I had with the game, but most of them were also complaints I had with the first game. I think what bugs me the most is that I know it could have been a great game, and with how great the first was I know CD Projekt has the potential. And most of my complaints aren't even major. They're just minor issues that built up over the course of the 30 hours I played, but that still left me really disappointed in the end.

Star Citizen and No Man's Sky really have potential.

If they're half as good as the hype, they'll still be bigger and broader than just about anything released up until this point. If they're near the hype, then the big publishers must be crapping their collective pants, annual CoD updates will suddenly look very dull against Star Citizen if it works.

If it works.

Um...I know there's a "something else" option, but I feel like I can't really contribute to the discussions since I'm not anticipating a single one of those games and I'm not entirely convinced any of them will even be that great.

But in the interest of adding to the topic, yes there are a few games I'm highly anticipating next year. There aren't any I might consider "BEST THING EVER!!!" or whatever phrase we're going with, but I'm really excited to try them.

I just don't buy into the whole "hype train" thing much anymore. It's always ridiculous. It's rare for ANY of the games to live up to their promises, even less so for their ambitions.

Time has tempered me.

Though, of the list, Star Citizen and No Man's Sky sound promising, but I'm not convinced they'll at all live up to the hype. Even a little.

One's promising a near-endless procedural creation engine, but is showing little of any meaningfully interesting content for use in that engine. The other is basically promising the moon but is being developed by no less than SIX different dev studios, all working on different "modules".

I can't shake the feeling that the former will feel like a hollow (yet beautiful) shell of a game, while the latter will feel like a disjointed mess.

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I've seen too many examples of devs aiming so high and falling so short. These two will have to be rare exceptions.

Time will tell.

MGS V and Arkham Knight are by far the more reliable options when it comes to greatest games, at least for now.

I'll be all hipster and go with Dwarf Fortress. Been in development for what, 12 years now, and playable for 7? What has been achieved so far already puts it as a high contender for "greatest game ever made", and if even a fraction of the rest of the development goals are ever finished it will become something incredible. Or... more incredible.
It's Tarn Adams' life's work, and he said it's going to take at least 20 years to finish.

So if it's not the greatest game ever made, I will very surprised.

Haha, give these games a chance before you pin them with sky-high expectations. Going in with such expectation is more than likely going to lead to disappointment. There are definitely some good games of the horizon that I find worth buying, and those would include:

-Bloodborne
-Witcher 3(Over-hyped to hell and back though)
-Pillars of Eternity
-Torment: ToN
-Star Citizen
-No man sky
-Persona 5
-Metal Gear solid 5...etc.

But more than likely you may be surprised by something you weren't expecting. I was barely paying attention to Divinity original sin before it got all the good press and I decided to give it a shot and it ended up being my favorite game of the year. Any of those games from the above list can make critical errors, be delayed, or be buggy as hell. The latest game I mistakenly rode the hype train for was Dragon age: inquisition, and boy did that turn out to be a big disappointment.

None of the above. I'm not holding out for something like Zelda or Star Fox U either; ever since he coined the term, I've always admired what Yahtzee said about gaming expectations, something along the lines of "All games are shit unless they prove themselves otherwise". Yeah, there are games in development that I'm excited for but I don't even consider games from the past 2 years when it comes to which games I would point to as 'best ever'. It's kind of like American Presidents: if you point at the most recent and say "best ever" or, "worst ever" it just seems like another way of saying, "I have no point of reference outside of what is new and relevant".

I'm partially lamenting the fact that I still have yet to play Dragon's Dogma and Kingdom's of Amalur which both look like the most interesting RPGs in a long time (even if they aren't as expansive as Inquisition or anything in The Witcher series...also games I've yet to play)

My last hype train game was Destiny and to me it was a bigger disappointment then Dragon Age: Inquisition for Dragon Age went in the direction I was expecting because that is what "the true fans" were demanding BioWare make on their forums.
