My boyfriend got me into games with cutesy free to play MMOs. My laptop at the time was crap, and we needed something online (it started as a long distance relationship). After I got the hang of that, we went on to Neverwinter Nights, and some custom maps for Warcraft 3. I usually stuck to the RPGs cause I wasn't a fan of shooting stuff (not because of gore, but rather because laptops are horrible for aiming, and I wasn't good at it in the first place)
After I moved in with him, I still stuck to the rpgs, but I was always watching his games over his shoulder at the same time. When he got Mass Effect 3, I looked at all the questionably intelligent people on multiplayer and thought "damn, if they can still be breathing, I can sure as hell play that". Tried it, didn't like it.
But then the THQ bundle came in....and Saints Row the Third. First shooty game I really played, and now I'm hooked. Just picked up Borderlands and Spec Ops when they came on sale.
TL;DR version: start off with little games like Layton, Popcap, anything non-violent. Either she'll like them, and want to try more of your games, or she'll be happy with what she has and you can still play together. Seems win-win to me.

Fat Princess. Put that in and post her reaction. Record it if possible.
Or that. Fat Princess was quite a fun game, no serious violence (if you "kill" someone they just respawn at their castle), and it's very easy to play together (or versus each other if that's what you want)
