These 2 questions have been asking to anyone I know who plays games:
1. Why are games dumming down?
2. Where did FF13 go so wrong?

First the dumming down thing.
I can?t have been the only one 2 see that game developers have been making games easier and easier. Many game are so busy trying to bring in the ?oh that is shiny? croud that I am starting to feel all alone plz tell me that there are others out there.

The best example of this is Splintercell Convictions? that mark and execute thing what were they thinking were not all COD:MW2 tards that cant understand a game that doesn?t hand them a win on a plate.

Yer shooting people was hard on the first couple of games but that made it so god dam cool when you did.

finaly the second question

Which I normally convey with this "ARRRRRR 13 where did you go so wrong? I can?t take, it FF is so good why is this one so bad?" I realy hate The fighting system is so crap it makes me want 2 cry.
On a positive point the story was ok?

I'm only answering you first question as I haven't played FF13...

One of two reasons. Either they're trying to open games up to a wider audience and gain more money (It is a business after all) or the much more likely reason: you're simply gaining experience. In all my time gaming, I've been able to notice several things within games that have helped me within my 'gaming career'. Knowledge from one game doesn't simply dissipate after I end the game and move on to another.

I still remember, the first time I ever beat Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, it took me an entire month, first time through. I was able to later refine that into 6 hours in one day.

Now, I beat a game within 2 days on average if it's an average game. You could say that the games have gotten easier, but I think it's much more likely that I've simply become better.

stone hard irony at dumming down.

it's dumbing.

anyway they probably try to make a safer more enjoyable experience for gamers, by making it easier.
for many non-hardcore gamers that method works like a charm.

Have you played Conviction? I agree that it annoys me when people say they've toned down the difficulty, but Conviction on Realistic is still hard, and M&E isn't a win-button.

Games aren't easier and easier. There are more options. Back in the day, the difficulties were, for the most part, "Normal" and "Hard", where there are around 4/5 difficulties to play on. At least, that's what I think. But I've found very few games challenging.

And, I liked FF13. It's not bad. You don't like it. There is a difference between fact and opinion, and it is important to realize that. You might not like something, and that's fine. You can play something else.

Dude... really? Really?
oh the sweet irony of it all
DUMBING not DUMMING.

Final Fantasy series isn't a good example of anything... ever. Yes, I'm a hater.

really I die 1 time on the top difficulty and only got see like 12-13 times and even when I did the B button just end it even when I was right in front of them. Where as the other Cell games had me raging for days at 1 dam guard.

can i just say
I didn?t say every one though it was bad I was asking why I (and other people who didn't like it) can?t or didn?t like it. I have been a fan for years I have some of the early games posters. I guess that makes me a fan boy but I don?t thing I am.

that is why i put up the tard thing about me for ppl who love the game =)

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

I found the first Final Fantasy to be great fun, but never really got into any of them after that. Call me nostalgic, but I just can't enjoy any of the later installments.

Oh joy, another "why do I have a different opinion" thread.

Games are dumming down to reach a broader market.

Final Fantasy XIII was excellent IMO, so I can't comment on your latter question.

Well, I have loved Final Fantasy for a long time. The first game I ever played was Final Fantasy 8 for the playstation 1 and for me, after FF9 the whole franchise went down the toilet. I tolerated FF10 and then the rest I couldn't even get through. They're too busy now trying to make their turn based fighting style not seem as turn based and making the level up system more complicated than it ever should be to realize that their popular games didn't have any of this shit, they had a good story line and likable characters. Oh, and it didn't take me 15 hours of gameplay to find out what the plot was and I didn't have to read a novel to understand the vernacular!

I don't play shooters too much, so I can't comment. Last one I played was a PC version of Quake in 1999... That was pretty hard. If Splinter Cell is the same level as that it has been dumber down.

As for Final fantasy, I say this ~ Meh. I guess I was one of the only people to find the final boss of FFXIII a complete ***** to kill then. I hated it because it wasn't fun, end of.

FF13 is a masterpeice of a game so i guess its only your oppinion. I cant stop playing FF13 i've beat the narritive like 3 times and done all the ceith stones many times. Am now setting up those more intresting playthroughs. Best FF game. then i'd say 7 is second then 3rd is FF6

I've never felt slightly interested in the FF series, its hard enough to find anime that doesn't copy each others storyline and characterisations, but JRPG's are just so similar in every way I'd just find it a waste of money and time to bother with.

All in all I don't have the enthusiasm for the same old crap.

I'd agree with the whole "experience" bit. If you play enoguh games, eventually you just get really good at playing and can beat stuff fairly easily. You might think that games are becoming "too easy", but your years of experience in shooting people in the face or finishing dungeons probably has more to do with it.

Though... games have been getting easier.

Biggest reason for making games easier: To bring in more money. Easier games = more people willing to play = more people paying money for them = more money coming to the developers. There are still plenty of devs out there that are making difficult games, though...
But that is why they include difficulty options now.
