How can we fix our community? Seriously, it seems almost impossible to play a multiplayer match without being insulted, or screamed at by some random 10 year old with adhd.

My favourite quote from Xbox live is "I'm sorry. I don't speak coon", anyway I just mute the dicks and ignore them. If someone wants to be rational, fair play to them.

I'm a firm supporter of the "Yahtzee camp." We believe that playing a multiplayer match without being able to physically smack the person who just spawn camped you is an exercise in futility.

I simply mute every person in a multiplayer game. I avoid annoyances before they start.

XBL is a cesspool... Okay so is the psn but the mean age is older for psn.

PC gamers tend to be more mature as well. Those are the dedicated systems I have experience in so that's all I can suggest is to literally stop playing in the worst one.

You're talking about a console and some FPS's? I don't know how that can exclusively be called "the gaming community"...

Never came across anything like that. Then again, I only do PC gaming.

I wasn't aware the community was "broken." Just because there are some dicks out there that doesn't mean the gaming community is bad as a whole. That would be like saying one idiot in a class of 30 people means all 30 people in that class are idiots.
Don't let the minority represent the majority or you'll end up bitter and hateful. Also, like others have already stated, generous use of the "ignore" and "mute" functions will make your online experience much more pleasant.

dk, but I think we need to clean the CoD player base
Strange you should say that, because I've run into far more screaming kids and teabaggers playing Halo than I ever did playing MW2.

But regardless of the game in question, I see and agree with your point - there is a section of gamers out there who need to be more polite and show others at least a modicum of respect.

Probably just being friendlier and/or only playing with people who you know in person.

Why is there no "all of the above" option?

XBL is the only real issue, imo. On PSN, nobody has mics, so it tends to be a quiet place, and many PC servers are VERY strict, usually modded by players (TAKE NOTES, XBL). I might feel PC gamers (fanboys, I mean, not all PC gamers) are stuck up, but they DO have a point on certain issues, and how multiplayer communities are handled are one of the biggest points I agree on.

Great mods have made this place heavenly, so it should work for the rest of the community.
Besides, I've never had any problem.

I have ADHD. You watch yo mouth.

And I'd say moderating. It worked for the Escapist.
