Of the given choices, RPGs are definitely my favorite genre. However, I do find the mix-n-match genres much more appealing than a simple single flavor game.

Since fighting games and visual novels are on my list of three, I'll choose other, though my third one is RPGs.

Cool, I'm the only vote for TBS.

If I had to pick just one, it'd definitely be Turn-based Strategy. Just a few reasons - X-Com: UFO Defense, Master of Orion, Jagged Alliance, Fantasy General

SRPG would probably be my second, with something like Shining Force, Fire Emblem, or FFT up there.

Although I'm a huge shooter and RTS fan as well, I'd most likely go with some sort of simulation games coming up in third. I think that's what you'd categorize Wing Commander and any space-flight sim as. I think Mechwarrior would fall under action/simulation since it's "giant mech game" rather than a FPS or TPS or RPG or whatever, it blends elements of all of these into one. Racing games could also be filed under simulation, at least some of them (ToCA 3, etc.) and that would encompass even more games instead of me just saying "driving games" as a genre...

But honestly, there's a lot of genres I enjoy, and I would hate to have to just pick one. I'm a varied gamer with a lot of different tastes and a lot of experience, so I'm voting TBS because it's underrepresented and I love it.

I thought that was a 4X?

It is, it's a turn-based 4X. 4X is sort of a sub-genre of strategy, and they can be turn-based or real-time. Master of Orion is one of the greatest TBS games I've ever played, so I threw it on the list.

I suppose a more traditional TBS might be the HoMM series.

Master of Orion (and most 4X games really) involve strategy on a grand scale. The others I mentioned are more tactical or operational rather than strategical.

Ahh, okay.

Yeah, I'd have to say MOO2 is a classic 4X, while GalCiv2: Endless Universe is a great modern update.

RTSs all the way, FPSs being a close second.

Just finished Maw of the Void. Here I go Char!

Another RPG-er here. I like pretty much any type of RPG, WRPG, turn-based, real-time, JRPG, SRPG, you name it.

Second place goes to fighting games.

I enjoy most gaming genre's so it's hard to pin down which is my favourite. My guess action/adventure if that can count sandbox games as well. Some of my favourite games are FPS others are RTS and others are RPG, so I may be wrong.

Tricky one. I'd say I prefer RPGs and Shooters above other genres, but I can't really decide between the two. I'll go with FPS games, however, as I own more of those than I do RPGs.

I played an MMO game called Neocron for years, it was pretty amazing for the first year or so but after that the dev's screwed up the patches and all the hackers came out the wood work! It is sill around and there is talk of a sequel or rather expansion. It is a cyberpunk MMORPG/FPS... so it has massive amounts of potential if someone were to have money to throw at it!

I have a preference for roleplaying-games, and I play a lot of shooters, but I don't really mind what genre a game is. Although there are certain types of games that I tend to avoid, because I suck at them - driving games and strategy games, mainly.

I'm moving more into the RPG side of gaming now, they usually last a hell of a lot longer than other genres.
