I have an Alienware laptop, and it's great for convenience and a sturdy build, but for the same amount of money, a desktop gives you more power, lower temperatures, and much better graphics and performance. Get a desktop unless you have to be on the go.

For those that spend a lot of time at home, the gaming desktop is a much better option and priority. Laptops give you about half of the power and cost twice as much.

However, for those who have are on the go a lot and love video games, portable gaming is a must and therefor a gaming PC is an option. Especially considering you can play a great variety of PC games on a PC the size of a Nintendo 3DS or so, for the same price. Those tiny palmtops at this point, have a huge library, especially if you're into emulation. And having a full size gaming laptop, can be great as well if you like modern games. I have to say that while I love my 3DS and always buy and play the new handheld systems, and Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS is one of my prizes possessions, I'm also interest in finally having a laptop that can emulate Gamecube and PlayStation 2 games. Games like Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss. I really want a 1080p, 14-16 inch Tales of the Abyss/Symphonia on the go, not just a tiny 3DS sized, low resolution Tales of the Abyss on the go. It's not piracy, I own every single copy of every single Tales of game in existence. I just want to satisfy my addiction by playing the games on the go.

I do know that Alienware is an awful deal, though. And that people swear by Asus.

Though considering I'm wanting to emulate PlayStation 2 and Gamecube games on the go, and take my Steam games with me everywhere(who doesn't want a portable Steam system?), I'm wondering how much money I should spend on an Asus laptop, whether I should wait until more powerful laptops are out, whether I should buy a top of the line Asus or MSI gaming laptop, or whether I should be a more mid-range Asus gaming laptop.

I already have a gaming desktop. And as I've explained, I myself am looking for a gaming laptop to compliment it. One that can run PCSX2, Dolphin, and most Steam games in at least 720p with no problem. Games including Shogun 2. What kind of laptop should I be looking into for such a thing?

A better question: why the hell would you ever get the overpriced rubbish that is Alienware?

It's a top of the line laptop and a great coupon to boot. 8GB RAM, large hard drive, i7 core, and a high end graphics card; should last you a while.

Why exactly do you want an Alienware?

Really, I'm very interested into why people want these things.

Edit: Anyone got any answers that don't start with "They used to be good"?
I would say for the customer support. Building a pc is cheaper but your on your ownwhen stuff fcks u. Having an alienware ya know you can ***** @ dell if its not right and support if you aren't good at pc support. Other then that I think ppl just buy it cuz of the name, like a FF game.
