Poll: Gaming Mice

Do you have a gaming mouse on your PC? If so, have you programmed it at all?

I've got a Coolermaster Sentinal. So far, I make pretty colors with it, but that's about it.

I'm looking forward to programming the buttons for some of my favorite games (You would not believe the button combos necessary in Alice, Madness Returns, that could be done away with one good macro. But it all seems so blooody exhausting!

Does anyone really do this? Is it as daunting as I fear?

Yeah, I have a 4 button mouse with variable DPI (scroll speed) settings.
I tend to just have it set to the highest possible as I've got a very small desk.

I have the side buttons set to Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V by default but they have different binds when different programs are open.

Eg. In iTunes it's the volume up and down shortcut: Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down; In HoN it's T so I can use in-game voip and whatever the hotkey for the shop is, I set it a while ago.

I have an A4 Tech X7 mouse. It's all right. Nothing high-end but I actually love it - it's cheap (around £20 or so) it works on pretty much any surface I put it on, it has adjustable DPI and it has the two buttons on the side for going back/forward - something I'm so used to having that it's hard to use a mouse without them. But other than that, I didn't program it. I don't feel the need - there isn't a game I'd need a little script for.

I don't use a gaming mouse myself. I just use a standard Microsoft mouse.

Interesting stuff. Setting up that hotkey stuff is what I really need to know about. I'll check youtube!

I don't have a gaming mouse. The mouse I use came with my laptop, and is about half the size of a regular mouse.

I have the Razer Deathadder Respawn.

You can program it and bind macros and stuff but anything besides the two mouse buttons on the side of it I left alone. At first, I bound the lower side mouse button to be a double tap 5, because in Killing Floor that's to get out the welding tool, but eventually I stopped using it and it unmacro'd itself somehow, so now it is not programmed, and I see no need to.

I have a standard HP mouse that came with my old computer. I don't need special mice for gaming but I can see how they would be useful in some situations.

Nope, I game with a basic Logitech wireless mouse. I really don't see the point of buying a gaming mouse in this day and age; even cheap mice have a pretty darned high dpi. I guess if you want the extra buttons it could be nice, but that's really what the keyboard is for.

I don't know what I'd do without my Razer 4,000 DPI mouse.

I use a Logitech G5 gaming mouse. I have programmed so one of the buttons is page down. It's convenient for browsing websites and it's rarely used in games so I can map useful commands to that key without having a crash with a different command.

Razer Epic Naga.

Mine's not Epic, but I love my Naga.

Probably more than is healthy.... If it dies I'll need to replace it before gaming more, I'm too used to 12 buttons on the side of my mouse.

Razer Mamba, 2nd edition (the bug-free one).

6400 DPI, always running full DPI level, but lowered on the software side, for extreme precision of movement. I do run a pretty extreme sensitivity though, both because I find it speeds up reactions, but also because it helps relieve strain on my wrist.

I'll often run it wireless, 'cus I always feel a little hampered when I've got it corded up.

It does have four extra buttons, but I rarely run anything special on them. I tent to use my keyboard for any macros and such. If there are gun-specific binds, those are usually what I choose to go on the mouse. Otherwise, I tend to leave my mouse-hand completely focused on the two buttons that actually matter. Aim and Shoot

Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the performance and build quality of the Mamba. It's an expensive piece of kit though. Some would call it overpriced.

My keyboard is a Qpad Mk-85. Awesome-sauce.

I use a Microsoft X5 sidewinder, and I love the little finger rest for your ring finger that it has. It's getting pretty old now, and I might switch soon. I'm thinking of getting a RAT 7. My brother has one and he says it's incredible.
