I want a clean discussion and dont want to incite fanboy rage.
all i want is to known which is your platform of choice and why
we shant judge, we shall show the world that we arent all raging twelve year olds

Edit: I play a ps3 because i prefer the single player games they have, such as Uncharted and InFamous. I used to have a 360 which i found good for online, but i never played online, and prefered not to pay 80$ a year

Don't have a "universal" favourite. Some games just play better on one system over another.

From a purely objective standpoint, PC is the undeniable winner. There really isn't a single area of critique that it doesn't totally trump consoles in: cost, controls, graphics, library of games, maintainability, utility, etc... all are vastly superior on the PC.

But that doesn't mean I don't get a decent amount of enjoyment from my PS3. Come to think of it, the only problem with the PC is that you can't play Demons Souls on it...

I went with PC because I've been playing it most recently, just prefer the games I have on it at the moment, it'll probably change back to PC soon enough though, or maybe the DS will take a turn at the top..

I went with PC.

I played older games on my cruddy first pc (AVP 1/2, Jedi Knight series, American Mcgee's Alice, Half-Life, etc.) but for me consoles were where it was at since they were a lot cheaper than PC's since I wasn't working way back then.

I started gaming on consoles with the NES and honestly this generation of consoles has kind of burned me out and made me a bit bitter towards them with the way developers are blazing trails towards micro-transactions, bullshit DLC, and having developers move away from releasing SDK's and supporting modding, lack of dedicated servers and a certain company charging to play on a server-client.

There are still some amazing games on console only and I tend to try and get around to playing them but between all the great big games, indie games and steam sales on those games I rarely even look at my consoles now... well except they were a life saver when my gaming PC got fried by lightning last weekend.

I play on the PC because I get to reap all of its benefits without suffering its pitfalls.

You see, I work in IT. Building and troubleshooting systems and tweaking operating systems and programs is exactly what I get paid for in my day job. To keep my own personal gaming machine running is a breeze =D
If I have a problem on my PC, it's fixed in minutes. Then I get to spend the rest of my time playing games that I've modded and tweaked and changed to completely fit my tastes.

Still, if you want some local multiplayer, consoles are fantastic. I always enjoy a good LAN, but the logistics of such an event can be quite taxing. Console don't have such complicated logistics, so for this reason, I will always have a console of some kind hooked up to the TV.

PC is my favorite to play because of the controls, mod availability, catalogue etc. But newer games have to be played on my PS3 because my laptop is pretty crappy.

I play PS3 largly because a lot of my friends do, and we have similar sorts of tastes, so we can just swap games around to play others

The XBox 360 has 'Splosion Man/ Ms 'Splosion Man and Torchlight(and eventually Dust:An Elysian Tail) but the PS3 has Arcana Heart 3 and Parasite Eve on the PSN. The 360 narrowly has the edge for the time being.

See, if SNES had been an option, I would have picked that, but if you're just sticking with this generation, PC.

It's definitely the hardest platform to get into, since the complexity of keyboard and mouse(it has a loooot of buttons if you're coming from a console) and the cost of buying soemthing that can run games at the same level or better than a 360 is quite high. However, I honestly feel that it's worth it due to the ease of obtaining titles for it with digital distribution services like Steam(Last week's sales were INSANE! I cleared out like half my wishlist in the first few days!). Plus, my favorite developer(Blizzard Entertainment) is PC exclusive so no problem there.

Torchlight was a PC game first, and functions better on it too.

Also, I hated 'Splosion Man. It was incredibly boring and repetitive, and there was nothing I liked about it.

I game on the 360 because I like that controller, (minus the sucky d-pad). PS3 controller is really uncomfortable for me, and I don't like the triggers that are curved backwards. I know that's just a matter of personal preference though. I 1st bought my 360 so I had something HD to hook up to my new HDTV. My PC couldn't do that back then. I also loved the fact it made my Xbox 1 games look even better.

I used to game a lot on my PC, but it's old now, and all my friends have a 360. I also like renting games and buying used games for around $20. Can't do that with PC games.

I disagree with this. Okay, nice PCs aren't quite down to the $200 level, but they're getting closer. I mean, Ars's budget box in March was $750: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/guides/2011/03/ars-system-guide-march-2011-edition.ars/2

And it's even down from that. You can do pretty well with $400 now.

Am I a bad person if my favorite is PC and I do it with an Xbox 360 controller?
No. I do the same with many games.

Just because you play on the PC doesn't mean that every game has to be played with mouse & keyboard. Fighting games and racing/driving games are just as awkward that way as playing FPSs and RTSs with a joypad.

On topic, I voted for PC.
