How many hours a day can you game these days?
What prevents you from gaming more?
How willing are you to forego other events to finish a game?

All these questions and more want to be answered! I promise, I am not doing anything sinister with the results of this poll. It's simply for... um... curiosity's sake?

How many hours a day can you game these days? 2-5 on week days and more on weekends
What prevents you from gaming more? people calling me and forcing me to go to their desk and help them
How willing are you to forego other events to finish a game? depends on the event, usually no

I play about 5 hours per day since I have work. Unless it's on the weekend which is probably the whole day.

Also how is it possible to do over 40 hours per day?

Poll edited for general stupidity on my part. One should not post on 4 hours of sleep.

I'll go for 2-5, but if I have the day off it might be in the 5-8, or even the 8-10 range. It really depends on what I'm playing. If I have something I'm enjoying and haven't beaten yet, I just can't walk away from it. To the point where I'd consider it a problem - but going to a Gamers Anonymous meeting takes away precious game time!

As for what I will forego, I'll not have a lot of sleep, I'll be late for everything, and I'll seriously consider ditching work. However work pays the bills, and certain items are required to continue the gaming later (e.g. electricity, food). So work is accepted, but only as a necessary evil. Family and friends - pfft. Unless they can help me beat something I'm having difficulty with, they'll be there later.

For example - I'm typing this at 4am after playing Dungeon Keeper II all night. For no particular reason, just came home, did the old "I'll play for a half hour" and then never got off.

i will say i've never been one of the addicts who can't get up and leave their computer/console. if i have nothing particular to do i will get lost in the game and waste hours away playing it, tho i've been accused of it cause i'd wake up on weekends and start playing and then stop when i went to sleep 14 hours or more later

i've never understood how ppl can ditch work, family, friends and other things cause they're playing a game

I chose 1-2 hours only because there wasn't an option for less...

Ask me 4 months ago and it would have been 5-8. Used to be a "hardcore" gamer, spending most of my time playing but haven't played much at all lately.

Just last night I chucked GTA4 on and it took me about half an hour to remember the controls, what mission I was up to, the storyline and so on. I guess lately I've been busy with sport, work, uni, girlfriend and friends.

Holidays coming up, hope to get back into it...

I guess on average it's 5-8. Some days i don't play at all, others i can sit down for for 12 hours or more. If it's a good ol' LAN party, skipping sleep for a few days isn't unheard of. As for skipping out on other things, what would that include, exactly?

Usually two-three hours, more if I'm lucky or clever. I have to outwit my brothers to get computer time, so sometimes I don't get a chance to game at all.

If I get a new game that's both addictive and something I particularly like, I can run out ten hours a day on that machine. Otherwise I usually never exceed one hour per gameplay, sometimes two hours a day. What prevents me from playing more? Headaches mostly, a need to get outside and breath air is another reason.

However I do know when to put the game down; it never gets in the way of other, more important activities. I'm not going to forsake the life of my cat for another few minutes on some generic fps. The times I end up playing multiple hours are always during the days I don't have work or anything better to do (Ie, the time I get the game).

When I'm not with friends, about 2-5 hours playing some good old COD 4 or GTA IV. Then again, I'm usually playing with friends then too. Dammit. When can I have some "me" time?

I go through periods really. I tend to play an average of 2-5 hours with various games and systems. Though lately I'm finding myself getting on these big binges where I play a ridiculous amount of attention on one game then get burnt out then stop playing for a few weeks...then I do it again. lol Sometimes the same game, sometimes a new oldie or a new one. I guess it depends on the group of friends that I have around me at the time.

It's hard to fit life (work, school and so on) into my gaming schedule. >.<'

Is there a reason there isn't a 0-1 catagory? On average I don't get to play everyday, such is life, but I play when I can.

I've been hooked on some SNES emulators lately.
