(Seach bar tested and approved.)

Let's face it, being sick sucks. Hot and cold flashes, sneezing, sore throats, headaches, vomiting, even death. But I got the pills that cure the death so I'm okay. Sorry, I got into a Pilz-E moment there...anyway. For some reason, when the sniffles start up, the second thing to go for me is the ability to play video games. So that's led me to wonder (and this is something scientists might actually want to study, the useless eggheads), when you're sick, does that make it harder or even impossible to play video games?

Like I said, I can't play games when I'm sick. The illness seems to throw off my reaction time, the stuffy head seems to clog my thought processing and the watery eyes and sneezing makes it hard to focus on the screen. I know it's possible for people with uber-leet gamer-senses to shake off the disease and power on through, but even people I know who've been gaming most their lives are crippled when gaming rolls around, myself included.

So I ask you, my fellow Escapists, when you're sick, can you still play games as well or even better than if you were healthy?

If I am off school and i am lying in bed ill. I will just put on the TV and play a round of killzone or mgs4. keeps me sane.

I still play games sometimes. It's depends on what I'm sick with. Sometimes, looking at TVs and computers makes me feel worse and makes me want to throw up. xD

I don't think I play quite as well since, you know, sickness makes you worse at things, but I beat the supposedly hard Dragon in Kingdom Hearts on my second try while sick.

My dad is very religious and very nuts and very old-fashioned and doesn't like me much because I'm an atheist, and a modern one at that.

When I'm well it's, "Grumblegrumble, ComputeStationBoxes are bad for your soul!" and when I'm ill it's, "If you're too ill to go to a rugby match/school, you're too ill to play the Xbox." Right... So because I can't get up at seven and spend a day in a cold set of rooms, awake, thinking, working and walking, then sepending an hour in the rain running up and down a field in the mud hitting people for a bit of leather that I don't want, I can't sit down and wiggle my fingers?

Gaming while ill is a no-go for me.

I feel like quoting my father to the first part, "What's that got to do with the price of eggs in China?"
Then I read the second part and quote my father again, "If you can walk, you can work!" He would see me play games and then send me school. *chuckle* Serious work ethic on the part of previous generations, I guess.

Isn't this why people get sick, right?

I think I'm actually better when I'm sick. I talk less so then I'm doing 2 things at once instead of three.

I don't know that it depends on the game - I would have liked an option for depending on what kind of sick it was.

If we are talking head colds with snot and coughing and stuff, then playing games really works for me. Lying in bed feeling sorry for yourself does not help and taking your mind of what ails you is good.

Obviously if you have to dash to the khazi every two minutes then you might be put off your stride a bit.

And if you are feverish and delirious I suppose you run the risk these days that your mightly level 80 orc warrior will turn in to a pink haired gnome called Geraldine because you got confused and pushing those buttons seemed like a good idea at the time...

Oblivion is usually my sick day game. Slow games, RPGs, wide open games where I can just wander around and hit things.
