same rights for all. simple as, we might look back on the debate in a few years time and see it as primitive as ethnic discrimination

If two people (gay, straight, whatever) are truly in-love with one another I feel that religion and the state should have no say in them being together. One step further is if they can raise a kid, will they love the kid as their own and try to give him/her the best they can, well then they should be parents. Gay marriage YES, Same sex parents Yes, and thats my piece.

Any male or female should be allowed to marry each other. Just because someone might like the same sex doesn't mean they should have their right to be married taken away.

Go for it!

You might want to call it something else to appease the Christians though, probably won't do much, but hey...
What I don't get is why on Earth anyone should want to appease the damn Christians? It's not like they invented marriage or have it copyrighted. It may say in the book they hold dear that a mariage is between a man and a woman, but last I checked the US (and my own country for that matter) is not ruled by the Bible. Call it marriage! Else we keep enforcing the horrible idea that gays are different.

If gays wanna get married, then by all means do it! (On a side note I'll say to the gay guys: do it even more! You free up girls :p ) And if they can find a church willing to marry them, yay. If a Church is to backwards to marry them, then why on Earth would they wanna be married by a jerk priest who lives in the Dark Ages?

I was so happy for the people who got a chance to be married in California and then it was taken away by idiots and fearful sad people. It really makes me wanna cry sometimes.

I feel that two consenting adults should be able to do whatever the hell they want together, barring murder or abuse. It is already perfectly legal for two men to do anything they want in the bedroom but they aren't allowed to take public vows of commitment and monogamy. Because I'm sure Jesus would much prefer his gays promiscuous and debauched. The institution of marriage is already crumbling and its the straight folk who are doing it. Why not invite the homosexuals onto the sinking ship. They deserve the right to enter the same, sterile, boring, sexless and tedious relations that straight do.

Im not gay myself, but gays contribute just as much as everyone else when it comes to making a nice society for all. Also, they themselves just cannot help it, as we all have different desires, so why should gays be denied any rights? Besides, you talk to an average straight guy and to an average gay guy and you will see that they are just normal people. As long as they will be happy, I think that a gay marriage is fine. Got no idea why Christians are overreacting (and I'm Catholic myself). What do they think, that Jesus himself would reject a person just because of his sexual orientation? Sigh, if only Pope John Paul the 2nd would come back from the dead...

To everyone who stated that every religion is against homosexual marriage, you are far from the truth. The Church of Satan has been for gay marriages for as long as I can remember (and is probably the longest running religious supporter of it). Also, within a two hour drive of my current location, there are two churches who perform same-sex marriages (same-sex marriage, already legalized HERE. Federally, in fact)

Do your research.

12 reasons why gay marriage should be banned:

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or a longer lifespan.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
Sorry brain fucked up for a moment. I now understand your point. You where comparing the two.

how long does it take to ban lol couse i did the same to you you are officialy a troll ironys a ***** isnt it
Um, no. See Trolly, I can articulate, and spell, and I guess I just generally make more sense then you. Therefor, I would have to say that the majority of people here would choose to report you, for, you know, being stupid.

You see, the report button works by many people reporting the same person, which bumps their name up a list which the mods look at, and then investigate whether that person should be punished or not.

So no, I'm not going to get banned. Have fun while you can though.

Yeah I feel kinda immature for responding to this, but I felt like he should know the sacred truth before he gets banned. :(

*A concept can't be unnatural as compared to a material object.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
*The world needs LESS children. Way too overpopulated.

3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
*I have two friends from straight parents, both homosexuals dating one another.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
*What does Brittany Spears have to do with homosexuals? Marriage is always meaningful to the person who treasures it.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
*...What the fuck?

6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
*Exactly. And the majority vote for gay marriage- in most countries, anyway.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
*It's not supported by Christianity. And America has thousands of religions- open your eyes. Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrianism, etc. etc.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
*My boyfriend is tall as hell and I'm still short.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
*..Oh my god, you are so bloody amusing.

10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
*There are plenty of adequate single parents in the world. Better than having an abusive father and a neglectful mother.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or a longer lifespan.
*We haven't adapted to cars? What are you on?

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
*So.. you WANT more discrimination in the world?
Your entire post.. is the biggest facepalm I've ever seen.
Um, I hope you realize that was all sarcasm, right?
Chibz is known to Present the idiotic arguments against gay marriage. I do not believe they are supported

Eh, let them do what they wish, i see no logical reason why they should not have the same rights as a straight couple.

I don't want to read all the text, so I'm going to spout my stupid opinions without any regard for anyone else's, then leave forever to parts unknown.

Gay marriage? Yes, but it depends.

Marriage is an institution of the church. Contrary to popular belief, there are some (though not many) that will marry same sex couples.

I believe in separation of church and state. The state should not be able to tell the church if it can or cannot allow same sex couples to marry.

I am, however, a supporter of civil unions for anyone.

I don't care either way, I'm not religious at all so have no bias against them from that point of view. As long as they don't try and involve me, all is good xD

Funy Quote I heard from Bill Maher: I believe that gays will never be happy until they're allowed to be miserable. XD

Atm I think that when it comes to things like this just use common sense. Marriage is religous and religons say gay marriage is bad so NO gays can't get married. I'm not being prejudice I'm just using logic here.

Homosexuals can be together but not married. Just call it something else so we can get to the real problems in the world.

I am against gay marriage. In fact I am soo strongly against gay marriage that I find it hard to adequately express just how against it I am.
However I am not against it out of any sort of natural hatred to gays. I am against it because they already have all the legal rights and responsibilities as married couples. They are exactly the same in everything but the name.
They have the opportunity to create their own unique term for their own union but instead try to brow beat us and force us to bend to their will and accept them. Then if you go against them for any reason you are branded a bigot. So for that reason I hate them and hope they fail.
Marriage is a bonding between man and woman. Always has been, always will be. Find your own fucking word and I won't give a damn.
Civil unions aren't recognized everywhere. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Samesex_marriage_in_USA.svg#filelinks] In fact, most states don't have them and don't recognize civil unions from other states.
