same rights for all. simple as, we might look back on the debate in a few years time and see it as primitive as ethnic discrimination

What I don't get is why on Earth anyone should want to appease the damn Christians? It's not like they invented marriage or have it copyrighted. It may say in the book they hold dear that a mariage is between a man and a woman, but last I checked the US (and my own country for that matter) is not ruled by the Bible. Call it marriage! Else we keep enforcing the horrible idea that gays are different.carnkhan4 said:Go for it!
You might want to call it something else to appease the Christians though, probably won't do much, but hey...
Well it is a HUGE issue =P. The sad thing is, it doesn't have to be.UNKNOWNINCOGNITO said:You made a HUGE threadSuperMse said:I am not going to say much, as I do not want to influence your answers. I will say that it is a very important issue to me, and I am doing a school report on it.

Sorry brain fucked up for a moment. I now understand your point. You where comparing the two.Chibz said:To everyone who stated that every religion is against homosexual marriage, you are far from the truth. The Church of Satan has been for gay marriages for as long as I can remember (and is probably the longest running religious supporter of it). Also, within a two hour drive of my current location, there are two churches who perform same-sex marriages (same-sex marriage, already legalized HERE. Federally, in fact)
Do your research.
12 reasons why gay marriage should be banned:
1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or a longer lifespan.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
Chibz is known to Present the idiotic arguments against gay marriage. I do not believe they are supportedarcainia said:Um, no. Therefor, I would have to say that the majority of people here would choose to report you, for, you know, being stupid.redeemer09 said:how long does it take to ban lol couse i did the same to you you are officialy a troll ironys a ***** isnt it
You see, the report button works by many people reporting the same person, which bumps their name up a list which the mods look at, and then investigate whether that person should be punished or not.
So no, I'm not going to get banned. Have fun while you can though.
Yeah I feel kinda immature for responding to this, but I felt like he should know the sacred truth before he gets banned.
Um, I hope you realize that was all sarcasm, right?Aqualung said:Your entire post.. is the biggest facepalm I've ever seen.Chibz said:12 reasons why gay marriage should be banned:

*A concept can't be unnatural as compared to a material object.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
*The world needs LESS children. Way too overpopulated.
3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
*I have two friends from straight parents, both homosexuals dating one another.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
*What does Brittany Spears have to do with homosexuals? Marriage is always meaningful to the person who treasures it.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
*...What the fuck?
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
*Exactly. And the majority vote for gay marriage- in most countries, anyway.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
*It's not supported by Christianity. And America has thousands of religions- open your eyes. Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrianism, etc. etc.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
*My boyfriend is tall as hell and I'm still short.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
*..Oh my god, you are so bloody amusing.
10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
*There are plenty of adequate single parents in the world. Better than having an abusive father and a neglectful mother.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or a longer lifespan.
*We haven't adapted to cars? What are you on?
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
*So.. you WANT more discrimination in the world?
Civil unions aren't recognized everywhere. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Samesex_marriage_in_USA.svg#filelinks] In fact, most states don't have them and don't recognize civil unions from other states.Anonymouse said:I am against gay marriage. In fact I am soo strongly against gay marriage that I find it hard to adequately express just how against it I am.
However I am not against it out of any sort of natural hatred to gays. I am against it because they already have all the legal rights and responsibilities as married couples. They are exactly the same in everything but the name.
They have the opportunity to create their own unique term for their own union but instead try to brow beat us and force us to bend to their will and accept them. Then if you go against them for any reason you are branded a bigot. So for that reason I hate them and hope they fail.
Marriage is a bonding between man and woman. Always has been, always will be. Find your own fucking word and I won't give a damn.
