Frankly I enjoyed the Gears of War series (although I know it had its detractors), and was annoyed that, after releasing a superior version of the first game on PC, the sequels never made it to my platform of choice. With the IP sold to Microsoft, do you guys think the old games will come over in a bundle/budget editions? And does anyone besides me even care?!? =P

Kind of doubt it, and if anything new Gears games will probably be only released on the Xbox One to give them more exclusivity.

A bit sad as I also like Gears of War a lot (Judgement was crap though).

I wouldn't count on it. Microsoft is dumb when it comes to PC gaming. They think that if they have enough exclusives, PC gamers will buy their stupid console.

I think that Microsoft now owning Gears has pretty much cemented it as an Xbox exclusive forever. Microsoft couldn't give less of a shit about PC gaming if they tried, which is stupid as it's one of the few avenues in the PC space that's actually growing.

If they refused to release the Fable Anniversary on the PC i highly doubt they will give us Gears.

No.

Microsoft's tends to treat PC gaming as something to be avoided and between the failure of Halo 2's port (mainly due to MS's meddling) combined with GFWL dying and the resulting celebrations there isn't much chance of Gears going multiplatform.

This.

With the final death knells of Games for Windows Live sounding loud throughout the internet, Microsoft basically announced that all of their published games on the PC would no longer be legally obtainable (and as such most of them probably won't even be legally playable because of lack of connection to GFWL servers).

Microsoft is the reason Halo became console-exclusive and why the PC version of Halo 2 was such a bloody mess. They're the reason Fable II was console-exclusive and it took them a year to piddle around and get Fable III onto the PC.

Much as Cliffy B didn't care for the PC in the last few years (which is hilarious, considering Epic was practically built on PC games), I'm pretty sure Gears 2 and 3 would've come to PC already if Microsoft willed it. To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing it. I like Gears of War and I enjoyed the PC version of the first game, and I'm simply more likely to play something on my PC than one of my consoles. But I really don't think it's going to happen.

It's my favourite series and.. I don't want another one.
After the appalling cash grab of Judgement, I just want the series to end.
3 was amazing, the story near enough wrapped up and I don't want them to do anything more to it.

You do know MS is the reason Gears didn't come to PC right?
At best I would see them doing a Windows 8(or even 9) exclusive bullshit to try and force people into buying their new shit, but by no means do they want anyone to think Gears will be anywhere but on Xbox.

Never. Microsoft made GFWL "because it wanted to support PC gaming", and the amount of fail that followed was so extreme that's it's difficult to describe.

There's a reason that people are excited for Valve's alternative OS.

No, Microsoft gave up on PC some years ago and now only care about the console space. If they bought a gaming IP, it's so that it will be a XBox exclusive. Sad really as I might've bought them on PC.

The only AAA games PC will see are cross platform console ports of non-exclusives.

Considering that Microsoft was the one publishing Gears of War even when they didn't own it I think that there's no reason to suspect Microsoft owning it will cause any change the distribution of the franchise in any way.

Gears of War 1 on PC was my first GFWL experience and it certainly wasn't a good one. After install it took me a good 30 minutes to get the damn thing to connect. Once I got it worked out, the game was fine. I liked it enough that I would have bought more should they have been released but of course, that never happened. I would have done the same with the Halo series too. One day MS will understand that if they make a decent game and fling towards Valve and Steam, it'll sell fairly well.

Haha no way. Microsoft is desperately trying to kill the PC as a gaming platform (evidence: the incompetently broken GFWL and the recent abortion of that horrible platform, and of course Windows 8).

The Xbone may get "HD remakes" of the Gears games, but Microsoft will never release a proper PC again again.

Not a chance. Microsoft hates PC gamers. Especially since M$ learned they couldn't control them.
(Valve, on the other hand..)

But then again, it's not as though PC gamers lost anything of value.

Not a chance, Microsoft have made it crystal clear that as far as they are concerned PC gamers are dead to them or don't exist.

Three words: Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Of course, Microsoft killed that back in 2009 :(

And no, Microsoft Flight was not a successor to the series, it was an insult (and with the mercy-killing of GFWL is dead anyway).

Well, in context the three words I meant were "Gears of War".

Microsoft Flight Sim was a strange legacy program series to be sure.
Though flight sims in general have been dead since the death of the joystick (to the gamepad, natch).
