nay, looks like a "cash-grab" to me. Besides, it looks exactly the same, just with somewhat better graphics (nothing spectacular though)

Personally, I think they broke the lore with Gears of War 3. As I've said before in other threads, the stories and conspiracies set up in Gears 2 and the books were amazing. There were threads everywhere, and each book brought them closer together. By the time I finished Coalition's End, I felt like I had all the pieces assembled and just needed that final bit of information from Gears of War 3 to make everything fall into place and make sense. It was going to be glorious.

And then the game came out. And it all fell apart. What a let down.

So, I will be getting Gears of War: Judgement, because I am a fan of the series. A disappointed fan, but still a fan. Plus, it's starring my favorite character, Baird. Personally, if the world went to hell, I'm pretty sure I'd end up like him. Completely sarcastic, mean, bitter, acts like he doesn't care, but a man to depend on when the chips are down.

I played a bit of it at the Armageddon Expo late last year.

The 5 vs 5 horde mode was a little skewed toward the Locust team, the suicide Imps can't take much punishment but are so fast and can do massive damage for a first tier class. I would often just run to the nearest fence and melee my way to the top tier, suiciding if any human showed up.

I managed to take out two humans with one suicide bomb, I feel oddly proud about that.

I saw this and thought, "Oh, the upcoming God of War game." "Judgement" and "Ascension" are so similar and similarly used.

Also, Gears is Gears. I don't care about Gears.

I could say something about the fact you can't really ruin the lore of bland porkchops in refrigerators, so I did.
This. Gears of War "lore," if it can even be called that, is basically Halo without any of the poeticism and interesting art design that redeems Halo lore. You can't break what doesn't exist.

Also, they're making another fucking Gears of War game?

Seriously?
You really need yo pull your head out of your ass, The gears game are bad at there Lore telling but its mostly done in there novles and to tell the truth its pretty dark even when put to halo seeing how in 1 its just humans trying to stand there ground, 2 its a destruction of there only home left and then in 3 its literary a fighting retreat!

I like both Halo and Gears but I'm personally interested in this new one seeing how there adding something new to the story mode and the new weapons too vary interesting. The story in this one though is VARY confusing I don't know if a new book is out or not but I have no idea were in the timeline this is or even were they are.
Novels aren't an excuse. If a story can't give it's setting scope or conflict in the the main series (the games) then it may as well not do it at all. Not many of us like the universe enough to begin with so obviously we wont be enticed by the books. If you're still going to persist in saying the novels justify the games average story-telling then let me ask you something: why aren't the authors writing the game's story? Because their clearly more qualified than the actual writers.

Ignoring my previous paragraph, I probably will get this one. Gears has always had fun action and set-pieces, not to mention great atmosphere (even if it doesn't amount to much). Screw the story, as long as I get a machine-gun-with-a-chainsaw-on-it I'm in.

At first I was a bit nay but it seems that the focus of this one is replayability and since I always liked GOWs gameplay I think that at least for me its worth a buy (I will still wait for a price drop though).

nay. I went of gow in the second one, humanity being helped out by a third party was like halo. in halo you find out that a big reason humanity held back the covenant was with flood help, in Gow 2 the situation is similar with the flood.

im not accusing of copying but i was like meh at the end of GOw 2

Seeing as I've always had a hell of a lot of fun with the games and Judgement costs about 20 bucks less than most current AAA releases, due to essentially being a big expansion pack of sorts, I think I'll preorder tomorrow. The local preorder edition also comes with (downloadable) Gears 1, which I've been missing ever since I last played it ages ago.

Unfortunately I found out about a few kinda lame things:
1) You can't play as Locust in versus multiplayer anymore, teams are now made up of red and blue COG's only. I guess this does make more sense than having both teams made up of a mix of Locust and humies, but I'm gonna miss playing as those crazy bastards. You still get to play as them in that new COGvLocust Battlefield Rush-esque Overrun mode, which I hope is damn good and played often. Too bad teams don't swap roles, it'd be cool to defend as a Locust or attack as a Gear every now and then.
2) There's two new semiautomatic rifles, at least one of which from the look of it instantly kills with a headshot. Bad thing is they're still keeping the bolt-action Longshot alongside them. How the hell this is actually going to work out I've got no idea. They might buff the Longshot somehow and put one or both of these other guns in...
3) Create a class. I saw some mention of it and fortunately from the looks of it it's weapons only. It's probably gonna be like the Gears 3 pick a shotgun and a rifle setup with more guns. More guns means more potential for imbalance, and it took them until Gears 3 to make the shotgun less than an absolute bloodthirsty killing machine. Good thing it is (apparently) guns only though. You can just imagine how any kind of perk setup will utterly fuck up multiplayer.
4) Grenades are now thrown by pushing a button like most games rather than pulled out and used more like a seperate weapon. This probably won't affect their intended application that much, but it may mean the end of grenade mines (yay?) and grenade sticking (definitely nay...)

Anyway these aren't dealbreakers by any means. It's a fun series, so I'll probably pick it up.

What's this about lore though?
Its Gears. There's dudes with chainsaw guns fighting other dudes with chainsaw guns and lotsa 'splosions n stuff.

There's ya damn lore, go stomp some fools.
