You seem to associate a lot of bad things with geeks, like being sporty and liking good music makes you not a geek? I view myself as a geek because I'm a big comic book/game/general internet stuff fan and am like a font of geek wisdom amongst my friends, and I still do a lot of the non-geeky stuff that you mentioned, but I don't see how it affects the geeky side of me.

I guess others might consider me a geek, and I don't mind if people call me a geek, but it's not the one thing that defines me.

Some of the geeky stuff I like...uh. Gaming, 40k, Doctor Who, fantasy novels, anime Star Wars, sci-fi TV shows, comic books, graphic novels, heavy metal, playing an instrument. I'm really into history and I get relatively good marks at school if I make the effort. I don't like going out in the sun, unless I get to go to the beach, and I'm really into serial killers.

Oh, and I protest against Scientology which is related to Anonymous which is related to the internet which is somewhat geeky, I guess. As for the non-geeky stuff, well, I like going out with friends and with guys, I'm into clothes and shoes, I watch chick-flicks, I suck at maths and science, and I love to be around other people. Unless they're annoying. I can deal with people in short bursts.

Non Geeky:
-I'm a dancer
-I'm a SCUBA diver
-... can't stand Metal? There is actually something inherently geeky about alot of heavy metal, just look at the album covers.
-Love electronic music
-I enjoy drinking and going out
-I'm Christian?

I dunno I'm struggling because I'm failing to think of anykind of activity that is specifically non geeky, while specifically geek themselves theres no reason why a a geek can't enjoy any of the activities above. It's far easier to look at what is geeky in my life, the films I watch, the friends I have, the games I play, the music I listen to (chiptune/bit-core) ect. Geek culture isn't very exclusive it's open to almost anyone it seems, but other cultures or cliques seem far less welcoming of geek culture than it.

It's hard to categorize these, really: it's very arguable how many of these activities are truly geeky, as everyone else said.

I'm essentially a geek/nerd/dork/what have you. Always have been, likely always will be. And that's what people love me for.

I try and not label myself, but I suppose I could be considered a geek, but I also have interests that are not commonly seen as geeky or nerdy.

geek:
I love libraries
I am studying for a science degree (Biochemistry and Biological chemistry to be specific)
I love playing videogames
I am considered intelligent
I like science fiction
I love reading
I laugh at science jokes
I have a lot of videogame t-shirts
I am interested in crimes and urban legends
I love my horror films
I really like watching war documentaries, with my favourite being "World at war"

non geeky:
I love ice hockey/baseball/American football
Before I was injured I used to play ice hockey
I am not socially inept
I play guitar
I don't like playing world of warcraft or "D&D"
I like going outside and hanging out with my friends
I like fixing cars with my friends

I like to think of myself as having well rounded interests

Yes, my badge holder says so.

Geek:
-I work as a Technology Support Specialist,
-My Degree is in Multimedia Design with a minor in Computer Programming,
-I know: HTML, Java, jScript, ActionScript,C and C++, Python (and quote Monty Python).
-I soft-modded my original xbox, am never running less than 3 workstations at work or Home (one is always linux, currently unbuntu 10.10)
-I play an OBSCENE amount of video games
-I don't read paper
-I watch lots of anime
-My dream hook-up is ASIAN
-I love comic books..er...Manga
-I can recite the Original Star Wars Trilogy from memory and include sound effects when I do, and Monty Python, Tron, Weird Al music.
-I have an expansive mental compendium of random knowledge and eccentric trivia.
-I speak, or spell, in binary ANSI (makes the ladies go wild...not really), English or Deutch(german).
-Took advanced calculus in high school and can do all my work in base 2,8,10,& 16 without a calculator BOOSH!
-Have a 143IQ
-Worked as a web designer for a couple years
-I built my own computer.
-Tried to get into 3D modeling, not enough opportunity around here (I have to take care of my Mother so I couldn't move)
-My hair is thining,..er.. balding I can admit it.
-I own a Droid and an iPod touch 4th gen because I wanted to develop and use apps for both.
-I'm addicted to Mountain Dew.

Non-Geek:
-I did college Track (100m, 200m, 4x100m) best 200m time was 21.73
-After I tore my Hamstrings twice I stopped running and started lifting, was benching 240lbs (20 reps) and squatting 350lbs (20 reps) for the rest of collage, max weight you can shrug for 1-2 reps is BS and stupid.
-I have had SEX with mutiple ladies at the SAME TIME not one of them had so much as a pimple and they were HOT 5'3" - 5"8' 97lbs - 120lbs (it ended my relationship but I couldn't pass that chance up, greatest night of my life), they liked me because I was ripped.
-I lived for a time as an artist, mainly charcoal drawings but graphite sold better.
-I own a rifle and go to the range regularly,
-I camp, hunt, and fish
-I own a few thousand dollars worth of real knifes and swords (could also be geeky)
-I drive a 600cc Kawasaki Ninja
-I ware a black leather trench coat all the time.
-The only alcohol I drink is straight whiskey, no ice, no chaser.

I'm a true geek at heart, the only reason I enjoyed doing everything else is because I could/can geek out over it. The running and lifting made me look good and I totally geeked-out over the hotties in my classes that would flirt with me. I majorly lost it when I got my bike, too much fun.

Most of the fun stopped after school because I got a job and my co-workers never did any of that fun stuff, damn stiffs, then my friends all graduated and got jobs; without the motivation to hit on those around me I stopped working out (still in shape but far from ripped). Now I just work, play games, and ride my bike... I've made my self sad by reflecting.

Hell, I'm still young, only 25. Maybe I should get another degree, pick up some freshmen ladies... as I recall Graphic Design has hotties.

People need to stop posting their interests and stuff as evidence of nerdiness.

Nerdiness has nothing to do with games, science fiction, or even D&D. Nerdiness is more about passion for fiction and the like.

Example:

Has complete box set of Dragonball Z, and watched all of them several times? Nerdy.

Plays D&D sometimes with friends? Not really nerdy.

Really, this question is more about being passionate than "What fiction I like".

But to go back OT, yes I believe I am a nerd.

Hmm, maybe? I like geeky/nerdy things, but I don't revolve my life around them. I honestly don't know how to answer this question.

Do you mean to imply geeks have a bad taste in music? I would consider bands like Power Glove and, The Black Mages pretty damn geeky since they're cover bands who focus on video game music. Piano Squall is also a bad ass pianist.

Anyway. I have geeky qualities but I don't consider myself a geek when the term nerd is one I enjoy more...though not as much as otaku...which I think isn't quite as good as gamer. I'm a little bit of all of them.

...

What's the difference between a geek and a nerd anyway?
