Tattoos are supposed to mean something, something personal and representative of your personality.
And games are very meaningful to some, certainly representative of a personality.
However, I still disagree. It's their body, I think you can get what tattoo you want. Maybe you just want something that will make you laugh. I have a friend who got "sandwich" tattooed on his knuckles. Another one got his postcode tattooed on his shoulder, just for fun. They don't need to be meaningful really.
OT: I don't plan on getting any gaming tattoos, I'll just be covered in Metal albums and whatnot. However, another friend recently got work begun on pacman around her side. Pacman, eating dots, with a couple of ghosts, just in a straight line. It looks awesome.
She also has aliens having a tea party on her arm. May not be meaningful, but it's totally fucking awesome.

Okay, I've managed to bite my tongue thus far into this thread, but CHRIST this needs to stop people.

I am a successful man, my wife is a successful woman. I am self-employed and work as a rep and give talks, amongst other things, my wife is a [6th Form science] teacher currently taking a career break to look after our five-month-old son and possibly retraining to become a Doula. We own a house each, a motorbike each, and a car with way too many baby accoutrements in.

Sounds like we have decent career prospects, right? That we're doing okay, that I found a quality person to have my kids with?

Well I have seven tattoos, including on my wrists at the pulse points, and my wife has the same. One of each of ours are visible, which is a rosebud tattooed on our left ring-finger, which we had done together to mark our handfasting (religious wedding) and is not covered completely by our wedding rings.

I had tattoos when I met her; she had tattoos when she met me. When I was 18 I was working as a chemical engineer; at that age she was a model. People change. People get tattoos. We all make choices we have to live with. No, the tattoo on her lower abdomen doesn't look great after pregnancy, but we can deal with that because we are mature people who made a choice and understood what that entailed.

If you get a tattoo on your neck or anywhere visible all the time, you'll ruin your prospects for a decent job for the rest of your life, and I'd say that's a damn sight more important than getting something that looks cool. Plus, neck tattoos are for drug dealers and date rapists (no offense to those who do have a neck tattoo).

I'm going to agree with Sef Salem here, this whole 'if you get a neck tattoo you will turn in to a date rapist' is way over the top and, i have to say, incredibly short sighted.
Yes, getting certain tattoos will limit you from being employed by certain employers. But they're not the end of the world!
That being said, they're going to hurt like all hell so maybe think about getting your first tattoo somewhere like your arm where it's not going to be as bad, nothing looks worse than a 2/3rds finished tattoo because you couldn't handle the pain any longer.

OT: Fox hound, easily, though I really like the more badge like design posted on page #1 of the fox with the blade in its mouth.

In time you may not be so keen on these, so go with the skull as it looks awsome.

I got my first tattoo at 16. :) I had to go somewhere with my mom's permission, of course, but I chose it.

May I just say that you might want to consider getting your tattoo somewhere inconspicuous. You know, upper arm, back, that kinda thing? I'm just saying because although you probably want to show off your tattoo to all your friends, it may not look so good when going for a job interview or something. ...unless of course you were applying for a job as a tattoo artist.

Man if i were you id really go with something hide-able like on the upper arms, torso ,or on the legs where i got mine. Lower calf's are a great place. wear shorts to show wear pants for anything formal. Other than that id go for the king o hearts because it looks damn cool!

Gaming emblems are a far cry from anything like that...

Damn, know you've reminded me about all that melodramatic bullshit that so often appears on Amercian tattoo shows.

Damn you!
Tattoos are meant to be whatever you want them to mean. All the power to them for inking permanently their body with something they believe in regardless of what other people believe.

OT: I do not personally like any of the 3 options, but if I HAD to have one I would go with the Mandalorian one on the shoulder.

My choice is none of them. Why would you permanently scar yourself with something that you may not want on your body in a few years. And then you can't get rid of it without a lot of money and pain.
There are a million better ways to show your pride that don't involve self-mutilation

All I suggest is get it somewhere you can both show it and conceal it.

Any kind of tattoo can negatively impact on your career prospects, they shouldn't, but they do.

I worked in a retail gaming store about a decade ago. One day a guy came in asking if I could photocopy the cover art for Earth Worm Jim (box art, manual cover and anything else we could find). Strange request so asked why he wanted it, and sure enough his plan was to get a big Earth Worm Jim tattoo on his shoulder.
Seemed really lame, but did as he wanted. Never got to see the end result.

The only other thing to consider is if you get a back tattoo you will be the only person unable to appriciate your art...

Why not the original foxhound?
I hate to be that guy that backs 'that guy' up, but you're right.

OT: What you're thinking of is the Kojima Productions logo, tho it's equally awesome.

I just got a tattoo the other week actually. Whilst I like the novel and amusing idea of having a game related tattoo, I'd much rather get something that I'll be happy with in 50 years as well as today, so I got an Endless Knot.

Still, the Kojima logo would be awesome to have, just get it somewhere you can cover it up, like on your back.

Someone once commented on my DRUG FREE tattoos on this forum, in fact this thread has been done already...no matter, two killer series' that I decided to pay homage to, Resident Evil and Gears of War. My full sleeve isn't featured but it is also for Resident Evil and God of War. Perhaps I shall take a picture of it later.

Sort of gaming related :D

Call me a PS3-tard or whatever, I play all games across all platforms, but I've been a Sony fan since I was about 6 or 7, so them being with me on a daily basis makes them pretty important to me.

Bioshock great chains on my right wrist (my left arm is full and I only thought of it after my left sleeve was finished...one works, though. As for my palm, it's slightly different but cookie for anyone who guesses what reference this is.

Go with Foxhound, that way when you're stuck in Thailand and you're surrounded by armed men with machine guns and knives and cobra snakes on the floor and you really have to pee and you can't cause it's hot and the toilet is backed up, you can be all like "!" just before you get shot.

Seriously, though, go for Foxhound.

As several other have already said, I'd recommend having your tattoo placed somewhere when you can conceal it when and if need be.

I'm sorry, but I can't offer much of an opinion as it concerns the design.

get a tattoo of your face
on your face
but slightly off to the side

then stand outside a 3D movie theater

and ruin peoples lives

Honestly, I remember when I turned 18 and I could finally do all the things that the cool kids did to ridiculous excess (piercings, tattoos, drinking [it was 18 back then]... etc), and I didn't want to do any of it. For some reason, teen angst and the need to stand out never really hit me too hard.

What I'm trying to say is, tattoos are pointless, expensive things that you will regret hugely in the future. I know because you are 18, you're going to hate me for saying this, and think I'm just saying it to be a pretentious douche, but all I'm trying to do is shell out some of the experience I've picked up in life.

If you're still going to get a tattoo, make sure it's something you will love for your entire life, and something that isn't going to make you look like a loser. This means nothing involving hobbies or friends/girlfriends. I know that now, you feel the need to express all aspects of your personality to their extent, but getting a video game tattoo is going to seriously hinder your chances of getting laid in the future (Sorry, but a lot of attractive women are fickle.).

To be honest, getting a tattoo can screw up a lot of things as you get older (especially if it is going to be visible more often than not). I know it sucks, but appearances are everything, and if you walk into a job with a tattoo on your hand, you will absolutely give the interviewer a bad impression.

Just a few things to think about before you make this deceptively big decision...

yes but some people would say that video games reflect a certain point in their lives and getting a tattoo of your favorite game from that time would reflect more about that time in your life than your obsession with the game

for example: i have a brother and a sister and all three of us loved to play zelda when we were kids. i remember huddling around our 15 inch TV and swapping turns playing. when we went to school we would constantly be thinking about the current boss battle we were at or the puzzle that confused us all in the back of our minds. when we got home we would all have ideas and try them out. after beating the game we would then each start our own profiles and race to see who could beat the game first and then we raced to see who get get 100% completion first

as such we all thought about getting the triforce for a tattoo to represent all three of us kids and to represent a period in our lives when life was simple and easy and when we all got to hang out with each other

so you see, the triforce does represent zelda but to us it represents a whole lot more than that and to get a tattoo of that would be a reminder of our childhood and our bond as siblings

I'm sorry to inform you that you are unable to get the Mando skull due to the fact that thats what I'm going to get.
