So I'm browsing these forums and I notice that I tend to zero-in on recently-posted threads with low reply-counts. I tend to avoid threads that have seeped into the second page, and almost never post in threads with three or more pages. I guess I like to be part of the development of the thread so I stay grounded in the discussion-- when threads have multiple pages, I am turned-off by the idea of slogging through replies-- I don't want post something that's already been said a million times. Nor, I think, do people in established threads feel inclined to reply to later-posters when they're already engaged in an ongoing discussion with earlier-posters.
I'm the same way with guilds-- I like to sign the charter and help design the tabard. I love playing newly released MMOs (which tends to be a very expensive and ultimately short-lived decision) so that there isn't that sense of disturbing imbalance between myself and players who have been around for years. When it comes to gadgets, I'm what people call an early adopter-- I bought my original PSP for like $500 on the day it was released.
To me, getting in on the ground floor is important-- what about you, Escapist?
