I've heard a lot of ghost stories from trusted people, even witnessed a few things that I can't explain myself. But I do not believe in ghosts, instead I believe that the brain is just way too awesome for us humans to fully control.

There is no scientific evidence for ghosts. There is no scientific evidence for a soul. Ergo - There are no ghosts.

Anything that appears to be a ghost can be explained in logical means. Seeing a ghost - an illusion caused by high frequency vibration effecting the iris. Sounds - Animals etc.

Plus all videos of ghosts could be easily faked as well. Until I see evidence of these spirits, my answer will remain no.
So, wait, if something doesn't have scientific evidence, it automatically doesn't exist? What a crazy argument. To continue this train of train of logic- Son, I'd like you to find me hard, scientific evidence that your mother loves you. None of that anecdotal crap. Give me proper data that'll stand up in the lab. Until you provide me with that data, we shall go under the scientific assumption that your mother does not love you.

She loves me though. :p Anyway, here's a thought for you- the most important scientists in history were also the first ones to admit how much they don't know, not how much they do.

No doubt that all comes across as new-age phooey, but I think it's a theory with more credibility than your standard 'ghosts are dead people what aren't dead anymore' fare.
All we would need to prove that his mother loves him is neuroactivity sensors, then measure the difference in activity and where in the brain the difference is between him not being there and then being there.

If something exists in the physical world in which we inhabit, it affects the physical world in some way, however minute, if it affects our world it can be measured. So far everything that's been chalked up as ghosts has been otherwise explained.

The reason why i make fun of ghost believers is the same reason i make fun of UFO believers, they see something in the sky that can't explain themselves and take a running jump over all logic and land on alien spaceship. However the answer really is that they don't know. As for cosmic echoes, well i don't believe in a soul so i don't see how anything could cause the "disturbance in the force" as it were that is one theory of ghosts.

I would highly recommend a DR Who story called Dr Who and the Ghosts of N-space, which deals with this sort of thing. Basically the N-body (the afterlife counterpart of the earth body) breaks through a weakness in the barrier that separates the N world from earth and tries to re-run their final moments and prevent their death. Fantastic story if you can find it.

I don't know if I truly believe that ghosts exist, but I'd like to think they do. Ghosts are cool. Like dinosaurs.

*Edited for bad grammar.

I could believe in 'em... Just the other night I caught a flash of movement from the corner of my eye, though I haven't been getting much sleep lately. By the way, if you are a scientist and think that because you are, that makes you right, you must have cheated your way through school. I'm no Einstein but I do know for sure that we don't know everything about the world and there are many unexplained occurrences people go through daily.
I agree. Really, we have no Idea whether ghosts are real or not. While many stories can be complete and utter Bull(Explicit), there's always that ONE story that can't possibly be explained under normal circumstances.

I am not a scientist or a psychic, but I have read Kid Radd, and I'm of the opinion that when we die, all our variables are swiched off. all we need is a reboot of our own game and we'll come back with all our memories and in perfect health.

the bigger problem is restarting the game in teh first place

Nah I'm pretty sure there's a rational explanation for any spiritual phenomenon.

Plus have any of you guys ever watched Most Haunted with Derek Acorah? That is proof that ghosts don't exist right there in his hilarious fake acting and his obvious exploitation of gullible people to make a quick buck on TV.

supernatural phenomina is just a word for an event science doesn't understand yet. I have a theory that we're all out there somewhere, but until we can verify it scientifically, there's not a whole lot of argument here. that said, i dont have an absolute definition of life in the universe so...

People turning ethreal and flying through walls? Highly unlikely. Now their clothing turning ethreal with them and travel to the afterlife as well? Impossible! Clothing doesn't have souls. Then why is it that ghosts aren't naked?

Of course ghosts exist! Who do you think knocked that vase over last week?
IT WAS ME!!!!
But aren't you a land-bound human in Australia?
are you calling me a liar?
No, I'm calling you a wizard. Nobody but a wizard can be a ghost and an Australian at the same time.

I would like to believe ghosts exist but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way.

on a side note: I hate most ghost hunter shows besides "ghost hunters" on the sci-fi channel because they go to a place to disprove hauntings more than to prove them.
