Pretty simple question really - what do you believe is the correct term to describe something that has been made worse?

I've always used the word 'nerfed' but recently everybody seems to be saying 'gimped.' Believe me; that's not what a gimp is.

Nerfed. I don't like the connotations behind "gimped" very much, much in the same way that I don't like the use of "retarded" or other words like it to describe mediocrity. It seems very rude to me.

I think gimp is a little offensive (not that I'm offended). Nerf is fine, I think it works and it sounds good.

You're misunderstanding the difference between the two words. Nerfed if when something is made slightly worse in an attempt to balance it, gimped is where something is made almost useless to the point where there's little or no reason to use it at all.

In my opinion a nerf is when they decrease the effectiveness of something that legitimately needed fixing.

Gimp on the other hand refers to a situation where a perfectly legitimate style of game play is broken down or completely removed because of whiners.

I think are both perfectly acceptable, and can also tell you what kind of games a person enjoys.
In my experience, people who say "Gimped" are primarily FPS players who don't branch out much, and people who say "Nerfed" have a greater variety of games they enjoy.
Pretty much this, 'gimped' is more for the Shooter game players and 'nerfed' is for basically everything else.

i always think of that kickass plastic light machine gun with an actual feeder belt all loaded up with adorably soft sucker-tipped hollow foam bullets when i hear "nerfed" so that will always be the term i use.
