I don't know where this idea comes from that girls don't play games. Although when I lived in the UK I never encountered many girl gamers, since i've lived in Australia I've met a LOT. I'm not sure if its the slight difference in culture here (since Australia is quite Americanized) but I'm pretty sure I know more girl gamers than I know guy gamers, and when you walk into a games store here half the staff will be female and they WILL know about games. (not that I do that very often since I usually buy on Steam)... Has anyone else in this country noticed this kind of thing or is it just an obscure personal experience of mine??
In the past generation there have been more and more girls getting into gaming I believe, I think its part of the accessibility that the current gen has brought to the table, its allowed more people who wouldn't normally be into this stuff get into it (including myself more than ever)
At this point its pretty obvious that girl gamers exist and denying that is pretty block-headed. I don't know why it matters really, in most other hobbies there are both girls and guys involved and it doesn't make any difference what gender you are.
I am not one of those guys that find it sexy or even attractive when girls play games, I just think "oh cool, so we have one thing in common. Since that one thing is gaming, and judging by my past experience with gamers, I severely doubt we will have anything else in common."
