I have talked to many people about this and would like to know- Do you believe in Global warming and what are your thoughts on the issue? Personally I believe that it is a huge problem that must be dealt with immediately. The global average temp has increased by about a degree. If it increases by 3 degrees the whole Amazon rainforest will become savannah. If it increases by six degrees NYC will be 23 feet underwater.

Of COURSE I believe in it! If it WEREN'T true, wouldn't the Earth be in a permanent Ice Age?

The planet has been a lot warmer and a lot cooler. It's just the way nature works.

I think it's a fact, but I don't think that humans are the sole cause of it. Throughout Earth's history the temperature has fluctuated - Antartica used to have a forest, if science is to be believed.
Humans are only adding fuel to a fire that's already burning, in my opinion.

The world will die, humans are just speeding it up. We're like cancer (for lack of a better word... and to express my utter disdain for our race).

I used to go to summer camp. I had a very good friend, but we disagreed on two fundamental issues. He thought global warming was a lie, but even worse, he thought that Hayden Christensen did a good job acting in the star wars prequels. What the fuck?

That....makes no sense. How can we be killing something that isn't alive?

So what your saying is,

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it

I think most people are using this "OH MY GOD, GLOBAL WARMING IS GONNA KILL US ALL" hype to push their own agenda.

That alone makes me not give a shit.

Personally I think you'd have to pretty stupid not to *believe* in global warming! I care very little these days. I do my bit, recycle, walk everywhere etc etc, but the damage isn't being done by little old me !

Not at all. That last line in particular.
We're hardly doing anything significant to prevent or mitigate it. While I believe it's a natural phenomenon, humans are both accelerating and exacerbating it to a very large extent. Can it be stopped? Possibly, but even if it were doable, it would take action on a scale that would make it a practical impossibility, if not a literal one.
Can it be slowed? Yes, but again I doubt we'll be doing anything significant.
Can it be reversed? No. It will reverse itself in its own time - that's the cyclical nature of the Earth, but it won't be reversed through any human action and whether the human race will be around to see the reversal is another matter entirely.
Can it be dealt with? Yes, I believe this is the route we'll be taking in fact. The human race will find ways to deal with climate change while somehow maintaining their current standard of living. We're very inventive when it comes to adapting, not so much when it comes to giving stuff up.

The existance of polar ice caps mean we still are in a ice age :)

Ha, I like that. I guess that was much more concise than I was.
Though exactly how much the human race is actually doing to try and prevent it is something that's up for debate...

I believe don't crap in your own nest, avoid releasing wastes into the enviroment, as well as not killing off animal life.

And I sure as hell don't believe global warming. It's the taking of erratic weather patterns and claiming it's the end of the world for funding.

Warming IE a uncontrolable increase of climate every year forever with no change to a medium range, always going up. Which when we had a brief period of heat, they laid it on, then blamed it for rains, drought and cold....which is all just the randomness of weather, taking a pattern back to a erratic pattern which is? NATURE.

I suppose.

But not NEARLY as cold as it was thousands of years ago. THAT wasn't a fun time to be alive T__T

It's arrogant to think humans can change the climate short of kicking up enough dirt and ash with nukes to cover the planet, and it's even worse when mother nature changes the world a human can change that as well...unless we get flat out terraforming but that will still require upkeep.

Alarmist garbage, scientists needing funding foolishness. Always has been.
