Yeah, it's called being on the low end of the SES ladder. Welcome to the club. We'd get jackets, but we're too busy trying to afford rent.

I considered it a giant step Forward when (being in college then) I managed to afford a 360 only two years after it had come out.

However, I will point out that being behind on the whole console thing is now less of a problem than ever. You remember growing up and going to the video store to rent a game, only to see your console only has a dozen or so games in stock while the new system has an entire wall to itself? Yeah, I remember those days, but now with things like Ebay, amazon and Gamefly it's incredibly easier to get your hands on older titles.

Just another way today's youth is spoiled.

This triggered more flashbacks than anything has ever. Today.

Really, such a classic situation.

The meek shall inherit the superior games library for a discount price. Some games, like SotC, I want to buy fairly quickly though.

I got my ps3 when they came out because I knew this would end up happening to me. I didn't want to see all the spangly new releases, think 'sweet!' and then not be able to play them.

I've always had a modern console, if not more (always of the Sony and Nintendo flavors) but I always prefer older consoles to newer ones
