Fairly simple. Which is the greatest GTA game? IMO San andreas. You could become fat, get a haircut, become a body builder. It was definately the best GTA game. Shame they didn't feature things like this in GTA 4...

Vice City. I loved the money print missions, and selling drugs out of an ice cream truck.

EDIT: I also loved the music.

Very close between San Andreas and Vice City.

I'm going to go with Vice City though because I loved the Scarface reference(s).

It's not just you. They went for the more realistic approach (at least, compared to the older titles) in GTA 4 and its episodes.

Vice City I thought was amongst the best, as well as the one I played the most. Kind of miss it because I sold it, but Vice City Stories on PSP is pretty damn good fun.. which reminds me, the PSP ones aren't on here!

Yer, partly because GTA4 lost a lot of sillyness of the earlier games. Remember how easy it was to thrash car/bikes around the city in GTA3/Vice City/San Andreas? That you could jump out of/off of them at any time? Making the cars drive too realistically in GTA4 ruined some of the game for me.

I liked 2 the most, but also felt chinatown wars and vice city were stamdout titles. The only one I didnt like was 'GTA: stereotypical ghetto slums', it felt dated and i hated the rpg elements, as well as the setting.

Vice City wins it for me. San Andreas was fun, but 90% of the radio stations were crap and the whole stat-grinding thing really pissed me off. Also SA's annoying habit of waiting until your were involved in either a) a mission or b) a 5-6 star chase to tell you that you were starving to death. Ugh. Vice City had all of the fun things that would carry over into SA, without all the annoying crap Rockstar decided to dump in later on.

Plus the music kicked ass.

I had the most fun on San Andreas.
I so want them to remake it as it is, just with the GTA IV engine. So upped graphics and physics, but still has all the old content that they missed for GTA IV.

Vice City for me, I've clocked more hours just doing stupid things in it more than any other.

Edit: Also Tommy Vercetti was a bad-ass. Certified lunatic douchebag that wanted money and power but kept on being bad-ass.

Definatly GTA 2. It was the craziest, the wackiest, the most fun in solo and multiplayer, it looked good, was well made, nearly bugfree, challenging but not boring, fast paced and everything a GTA game should be.

Vice City and San Andreas, I just wish the developers go back to the good days and add some fun, noone needs this push towards tedious realism in GTA.

Going to have to go SA. Huge map with lots of variation, pretty long game, co op. Just a lot of fun. We used to put on a 6 star wanted level and do suicide runs up the mountain on a bike. Also, Harriers.

I would put unlimited health, 6 stars and flying cars and just fly across the whole map while being shot at... I NEVER got bored...

Setting/story/music: Definitely Vice City.

Engine: San Andreas.

GTAIV was very disappointing to me in many aspects, it only picked up some of the old fun with Gay Tony.
