Poll: Greatest Hand to Hand fighting video game character

So, I am a devotee of the Prince of Persia series, having played and beaten everything with the words "Prince of Persia" in the title, except revelations, which arrived in the mail only earlier this week. My buddy is a hardcore God of War fan, having beaten the first two and chains of Olympus on God mode, and is working on #3. while one day playing some sands of time, and watching the prince do some amazing aerial moves, i remarked that the prince had to be the most athletic fighter in history. My buddy remarked that i should watch some of the stuff Kratos pulls off. This post was going to be "Prince Vs. Kratos: Who would win?" but i realized that you can't really pit a demigod wielding weapons of the gods against a mortal warrior prince with a sword and a dagger, no matter how spiffy that dagger is (he could only rewind Kratos curb stomping him so many times before he ran out of sand.) My question is, who do you think is the greatest hand to hand fighter in all the games you've played, and why? Choose from the options above, or tell me some i may have missed.

Actually i was thinking more in terms of their physical prowress. maybe a Mortal Kombat type tourney without the characters of Mortal Kombat. with or without weapons, your choice, just explain your reasoning

Well, if he counts Yuri is preety good. Chie from Persona 4 kicks ass. Also, Jak from the Jak and Dax series Pwns.

Seriously though, Arkham Asylum is probably the best hand to hand combat game ever.

Eh...I know a little bit of martial arts (emphasis on the little bit; I'm not claiming to be a badass), and fighting with a close range weapon like a knife is a lot like fighting bare-handed.

Anyway Batman: Arkham Asylum has a kickass combat system; simple, yeah, but fun as hell and a joy to watch. From the list above, as crappy as the Assassin's Creed series is, I have to pick Altair. The guy is so freaking singular in his movements and his purpose, and utterly calm about being a badass (seriously, the game has not a one-liner to be seen), he trumps everyone else. I don't think that's what the designers intended, but screw it--that's how I remember him.

Link is a badass adventurer and a methodical fighter, not a warrior. He's an Indiana Jones; he fights because it's part of the job, not because he can kick ass. He's the best of the list, in my book, but not as a face-basher.

ahh, yeah. i based that list off of games that i've played recently, and i have yet to experience the joy that is arkham asylum. (currently standing in corner, hanging head in shame)

Lets be serious here, the best hand to hand fighter is anyone is the VS suit from Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

With such a broad category you might as well say Jesus with a 15 foot katana made of kefka would be the best.

Ethan Thomas in Condemned 2. Sure you can use weapons if your really want to, but its more satisfying punching the homeless in the face than hitting them with a pipe wrench.

Batman glide kicks in at a very close second, and Haschel from Legend of Dragoon brings up the rear.
