I liked GTA4 a helluva lot better.

It's not that Saint's Row 2 was 'bad'. Saints Row 2 actually lived up to EXACTLY what it was advertised, which is good.

GTA4, though, definitely pushed storytelling through games to a whole new level. Yeah, it gets samey (but what game doesn't?), and it might be a little contrived, but its definitely one of the shining examples of storytelling through games, which is why I prefer GTA4.

Better radio: GTA IV
I'd have to disagree, I absolutely love the radio on Saint's Row 2. The stations are actually diverse, there's literally something for everyone. Don't like hip hip? No problem, have some Lamb of God to listen to. Don't like this modern stuff? Here's a station dedicated to 80s music

I feel that the radio stations on GTA games are far too limited, whereas Saint's Row 2 has a very wide range of music on offer
Didn't saints row 2 not have Paramore and the Reel big fish version of Take on me? I vaguely remember something like that
Saint's Row 2 did have Paramore, and as far as I'm aware it had the original of Take On ME, by Aha

Saints Row 2 is better, but I did thoroughly enjoy GTA IV. Something Rockstar is good at is making you feel part of the world, I loved seeing the news on the internet in GTA and most of it was random stuff but sometimes stuff to do with you was there, I loved that :)

I like GTA4 enough to buy the Ballad of Gay Tony, but I still enjoyed Saint's Row 2 more, and my friend and I played it for around 25 hours together online and beat all the co-op missions together. I also own all the SR2 downloadable content.

GTA 4 has a good story, and decent gameplay, I like it when I want to play a slower paced shooter.

But Saint Rows 2 is where its at, my only disappointment is the story, wished it kept its goofiness (it was funny, but meh, it was half-way 'heart breaking' with some of your friends dying in horrible way - sure, they are bad guys, but still). The gameplay however is the best thing I played in a while, sure the sword fighting boss battle sucked big time, but everytime else was just great.

God I tried using my 360 pad in Fallout 3 once. Just walking around Megaton with it drove me nuts. The aiming was soooooo slow, and that's with the sensitivity turned up full blast. I will say Fallout's menus are much more responsive to the joypad, though, so if it would toggle on the fly like IV does I would use the pad for the menus :p
My friends and I like the aiming in console games. Maybe it's just because we enjoy sitting back on the couch and playing without having to spend buttloads of money on a gaming laptop.

I love the visuals and the story of GTA 4, but the gameplay is horrific and there is nothing in a video game that I have come across which is more annoying that your stupid fat cousin calling u up every 5 goddamn minutes wanting to go bowling. the cars are impossible to drive at anything over 20 miles an hour, and trekking halfway across the city looking for something to eat because your pitiful little health bar doesn't regenerate and you cant carry food with you really just sucks. GTA 4 it got so obsessed with realism it forgot it was meant to be a VIDEO GAME, and hence, ideally, FUN.

That is why SR2 is so superior. Sure, the graphics aren't as good, and it's not really as immersive as Liberty City, but it remembers that it is more important for a game to be FUN than REALISTIC.

It should really be San Andreas vs Saints Row 2. GTA IV was just too serious.
That's the point. It's a poll on whether you preferred GTA IV's realism or Saint's Row 2's unrealism

Saint's Row 2, definitely. I play with cheats on as a general rule, but that's because I'm there to have fun, not a challenge (I play on the hardest setting for the heck of it). Sure, it comes dangerously close to taking itself seriously at times, but for the most part, Yahtzee said it right:

"...at least it understands what it's trying to be: pure, mindless fun."
Don't know if I mis-quoted him there or not, but you get the idea.

It's a rare game that makes me give a shit about a character being killed off.

like when Carlos is killed, it actually had some emotional impact. And it sets up a motivation for the horrible, evil, hilarious things you do to Maero, which just makes all those actions even more entertaining.

It was actually a good enough game that I looked past the god-awful optimisation issues and retarded "shit-control" menu navigation.

I'd been told that GTA IV was a really good game, so I borrowed it from a friend, and have to say that I actually found the realism worsened the gameplay. I'm used to GTA games where it takes quite a bit to actually kill you, and I found GTA IV quite difficult because of the realism in it, and enjoyed the game less
I had the same feeling really. GTA 4 kills everything the GTA franchise was about - the city is grey and hopeless, the radio stations are balls, the missions take themselves too seriously (and aren't even good at it), the additional realism lessens the player's ability to wreck havoc on the city, the new cops system is shite (and it really pisses me off that other games like Just Cause 2 have picked it up) and the protagonist is an unlikable, unrelatable prat (who's Serbian language really, really sucks and is painful to hear every time he opens his fucking mouth).

SR 2 picks up where San Andreas (the best GTA game imo, beats SR2 at most things as well) left off and makes a fun game. The missions in particular are loads of fun and encourage wrecking the city apart on the side, the customization is great and... insane, the side missions are mostly fun and there's plenty of room for wrecking havoc. Far superior game to GTA 4 imo.

I'm inclined to agree. I really enjoyed San Andreas, and I'd love to see the GTA series go back to that kind of game. Also, I think it might top Saint's Row 2, because it has less glitches and is somewhat more compelling. But, the side missions are less fun than Saint's Row 2, I feel

Aye, as I said, San Andreas is better at most things but SR2 does have some better aspects. Side missions are definitely one of them as is the amazing amount of customization.

GTA IV for me... I loved Saints Row 1, but the sequel just felt too shallow, the first games story was much better, and damn I hate how they gave my character a voice... GTA IV wasn't that great either, but it did give us the BOGT, which was good... plus Vice City FM...
