All of my friends will be playing TOR while no one I know will be playing Guild Wars 2. It's clear that I'll be playing TOR.

Guild Wars 1 sucked. I played it for like a week and didn't like one single thing about it. I'm getting TOR.

TOR. I don't like PvP so I hate Guild Wars. BW and SW fan so TOR is obvious, and I loved raiding in WoW.
Contrary to what I just said, you two need to see these: (thanks again, Totalbiscuit!)Don't judge a game with such pitiful misinformation.
I know general details about how Guild Wars is supposed to revolutionize the MMO with an ongoing changing world and enemies attacking NPCs, etc. I'd rather not spend 40 minutes digging through info on a game I'm not enthused about, no offense.

If the new Guild Wars system actually works, then yes I might buy it. I'm just going on by performance here though; BW has impressed me with almost every game they've made, and the developers of Guild Wars have never impressed me. I'm just going with the safe choice here.

Not even close. Even though I've played Guildwars for 6 years, thus giving the illusion of bias, Guildwars 2 is by FAR the better of the two.

The Old Republic looks like it'll be generic as shit, incredibly cumbersome to play and it's ugly as sin. No thanks.

I've kinda lost interest in The Old Republic and the more I hear about Guild Wars 2 the more I want to play it. The classes are interesting but from what I've seen it just doesn't look fun to me.

From what I've seen from Guild Wars 2, I'm actually pretty excited for the game. I've never played the first one, it never caught my interest, but this one looks like a ton of fun to play. Plus I bought a Charr plushie, so I guess that means I'm committed to it.

There are two very important videos both sides of this argument need to see. Take it away, Totalbiscuit:
(the important bit starts around 10:00)

Seriously this is about the best advice anyone can give, if you don't like one get the other, if you want to try both, get both.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm merely correcting your previous assertion that Guild Wars is "just about PvP" with the first 40 minutes of the game (if you're an Iron Legion Charr and don't start your Personal Story missions). If you're strapped for time and find yourself curious, the first video alone paints a fair (if incomplete) picture.

I'm excited for GW2, but a little apprehensive about their "innovative" new system. I'm always a pure support, or healer, so it will be new and hopefully exciting. Dynamic events sound delicious to me as well.

As for TOR, I never got into Star Wars as a game. I'll probably look for reviews on it when it comes out, but I don't see myself playing it.

I personally don't enjoy MMOs but both of these games have promised to deliver in different areas that I think need improvement in MMOs. GW2 in combat and TOR in story. I'll have to see how they do when they come out but provided that they are both equally good in thier own areas I will probably go with TOR because I really like KOTOR and I am a bit of a star wars fanboy.
Actually its sounding like guild wars 2 will have a deeper story then starwars, but then again starwars is starwars, if your not sick of it since the new movies then you will probably enjoy its story more.
Yeah but it's bioware. I mean even though both ME2 and DA2(apparently, I haven't played it) were rather poorly written compared to bioware's standards I think thats because they were both made during the developement of TOR so they had pulled a lot of the writers off to work on it. That's what I'm hoping at least.

Probably neither but possibly Guild wars 2. Guild wars 1 is one of the few MMO?s I didn't get bored of in a week and I never really liked Star Wars. I also don't like subscription fees. I would rather buy expansions every now and again.

I don't know, I mean, so far the story I'm seeing for me3 looks rather bad and I don't see how it can end without them finding an "I win" button... doesn't help that I'm also just sick of starwars, I don't think it was the right universe for bioware to use, its too limited, if it was a mass effect mmo then they could do allot with it creatively but since its starwars, lucas has to have a hand in it and there is a certain way everyone expects it to look and sound.

If I get either it will most certainly be GW2. First, because it looks and sounds like it will be pretty cool. Second, because it won't require a monthly subscription fee (after playing LOTRO and getting all the goodness it provides with no monthly cost there's no way I'd pay a sub fee again). Thirdly, I have absolutely zero interest in anything Star Wars related so even if GW2 didn't look miles better I still wouldn't touch TOR with a 10 foot pole.
