I couldn't care less. As far as I'm concerned, they're the same game, with a different interface. They're both enjoyable, but there really isn't any discernable difference.
I like stuff like Rock Band: Beatles and Rock Band: AC/DC. But that's the only point Rock Band has over Guitar Hero. Otherwise I don't give a flying fuck between them.

I used to love Guitar Hero, and to be honest I still do enjoy it, but ever since I got Rock Band recently, I have been playing it a lot more, with better songs, lots of great DLC and the drums work.
That's my main complaint about Guitar Hero really, all the instruments are so poorly made that they break within a couple of months. For example, in the last 3 weeks, I've managed to go through 4 cymbals. Yes, FOUR.
I've had the Rock Band Drums and guitar for a little while now, and not only are the drums easier to use, but they're much more durable. You can tell easily.
So my vote goes to Rock Band, because it's just so much better in almost every way.

They're pretty much the exact same game. The only difference I can think of is the drums. However, if you do want me to decide, I'll go Rock Band, simply because it has far more songs (and the Beatles)
Guitar hero because the layout is better, the drums are better the guitars are more fun to use.
Doesn't matter though because people are always going to have stupid reasons for liking one or the other.

oh and i dont like musically based games so i dont really care.
I liked Guitar Hero before Red Octane completely took it over but now I like Rock Band more because they have more 90's Grunge music like Nirvana and Soundgarden not to mention El Scorcho my Favorite song by Weezer. though the guitars are flimsy and not aswell made(I broke two of them in the same day trying to play This Ain't a Scene It's An Arms Race on expert) but I suppose I could just switch them out with a guitar hero or third party controller...
