Poll: Guns, hate em, love em, or dont care?

I feel like guns are a very hot topic on this site so i decided to make a thread.
I feel that people have a right to own small self defense guns and hunting wepons but i dont like that a normal person can just buy a shotgun (I know you need a liscense)

(Also i did not put this is politics because this is less on the poloitical aspect and more on the idea of guns and what you think of them)

They are a hot topic indeed, this is about the 12th thread on them this month.

I like guns, I like modelling them in 3D, I like researching about them. From a competitive sport perspective I would be interested in firing a gun and eventually owning one, but other than that I do not think civilians have business owning them.

Which is pretty much ideal since I live in the Netherlands and you cannot own a gun unless you're a registered and thoroughly screened member of a shooting range (and have been so for at least 1,5 years) and have proven that you require a gun of your own in order to proceed in competitive matches.

From an aesthetic and engineering standpoint, I like guns. It's the reason I pick bolt-action sniper rifles over semi-automatics. The mechanical motion of loading the next round into the chamber is so satisfying.

From a holy shit, these things fire bits of metal that rip through the living flesh of other living things standpoint? Not so much.

People should only have firearms if they have a proper reason to own them, such as Hunting or Sport shooting.

I don't think that regular shmoes like you and me should have them. The only guns that should be allowed are for Military. By that I don't mean normal police officers, I think they should still have tasers, but special police officers (something that deals with opposing gunmen or whatever, rather than patrolling the streets) should have them.

That's just my opinion though.

You don't need a licence to buy a shotgun here. You just need to be 18 with a clean record and enough Money to buy one. The hardest part of buying my shotgun was the 15 minute wait while they ran my SSN.

Personally I love guns, as I have stated in many other gun posts I started shooting when I was six and was instantly hooked. Since then have shot every caliber from 8mm to .500 S&W Magnum, .224 to 50 BMG and 10 to 20 Gauge.

Really? No guns in the U.K., they have no guns problems over there? Even if guns are illegal the people who don't follow the law are still going to use guns.

Everyone should have a gun but the bullets should cost billions of dollars so if someone gets shoot there must be a good reason

I understand the "civilians shouldn't have guns" argument, but I don't get why people say the police shouldn't have them either. I mean, they're the police! What if they're attacked by an armed assailant? They should at least have a 9mm at their hip, if nothing else.
