Answer: Could be good.

Questions:
1. Who is making this? Valve?
2. How much?
3. That's about it really. If it's 25 or more $$$, I doubt I'll get it. Appropriately, if you already own the original Half-Life, it should be free to $5, otherwise 15 or 20.

Honestly, it could be good. But I'd just be retreading Black Mesa and Xen again, which is probably the biggest turnoff.
1. Who is making this? Valve?- In answer to that nope. Its a small design team of 160 members.
2.How much?- Probably free as it is a mod and won't be sold as a separate game but as a download. Might cost to download in the end though. I hope not but if it does cost then I will try find a demo or get a friend to download it so I can see it first.

It looks good. of course, it always LOOKS good
Graphics wise technology allows for most games to look good not necessarily play well(Stalker:Clear Sky is the example I would use.). I meant that it looked good graphics-wise as sirdanrhodes was referring to the graphics.

well it looks good, lets hope it can be so fun like the original, but i cant imagine how i would make to fight the nihilant and that 3 headed monster, they were ugly and a bit scary even when de game was old, imagine how they may look with this updated look.

so, if they add the physics engine will they throw in the gravity gun in as well, since it was the poster child for the physics engine in the first place.

If you didn't get it in the original game, I highly doubt it'll be in the remake.

Well if they don't then I'm sure someone will mod the mod to add it in, because the physics just isn't fun if you don't have the gravity gun.

Yeah, I played it a couple of years ago for the PS2, which may also be a prime factor as to why I didn't like it. I wasn't playing games when it came out, I was only 7 years old. I admit my view may well be biased by when I played it, but I still just couldn't get interested in the story when I did play it. Honestly, I had no idea what was going on for the first half of the game.

Play in on the PC, trust me. I'm not promising it shall deliver unto you the child of christ, but it's a pretty good shooter and has some interesting puzzle elements to it. For instance-
A giant tentical monster that hunts using sound you have to kill with the exhaust of a giant rocket

Admittedly it's a bit dated and it shows, but it's still good, and the first half even has a sort of survival horror vibe to it- even though your heavily armed and in a magical suit of armor. And-
once the military gets involved, it almost turns into a very tactical shooter as you fight marines trying to kill you.

The story can be sort of barebones- both halflife and halflife 2 don't do a stupendous job of telling the story through the game though Halflife is much much better in this regaurd. Effectivly, the story starts with you as mild mannered Gordon Freeman, theoretical physicist hired at the Black Mesa government institute. You havn't been working very long when the higherups rush along an experiment to concerns of the scientists. Needless to say things go awry and what starts as a mission to get help for Dr. Eli Vance (who gets a serious leg injury) turns into a quest to survive, and ultimatly, undo whats been done and save the world. Woot.

Admittedly the game only has a few models for characters, so all the scientists look like the same 3 guys, and all the security guards look like the same guys. But they're not- their propensity to die is tremendous, and it would be difficult for lore if Barny Calhoun died 80 times during the course of the game.

Anyway pick it up cheap and give it a try.

I'll probably end up borrowing my brother's copy, or trying Half Life 2: Black Mesa if and when it comes out. Now that I'm so used to modern physics and the like in my shooters, I doubt I would get the same amount of enjoyment out of Half Life 1 as I would otherwise.
