Battletoads really isn't all that hard. On co-op it can get downright easy.

My vote goes to N, because the first time I played it I was terrible at pixel-perfect platforming (not that I'm good at it now).

I agree on many, MANY, levels. I died about 20 times before I even realized I was playing.

I do not know most of these games... But I'd say STALKER doesn't even belong here - sure, it's slightly harder then most FPS games out there, but it can be easily completed by just about anyone with enough care...

Maybe it qualifies due to the sheer amount of bugs? I kept running into game stopping bugs half to three quarters through it. I wasn't able to finish until a year later after it had been patched enough. Other than that your right, it wasn't that hard of a game.

OT: I'd say Ikaruga. I never played it, but i'd rather not for i wish to not be emasculated (aka laying fetal position in the shower, trying to find a happy place) by a simple sidescroller.

Super Ghouls and Ghosts!

Capcom must've thought all the improvements made in Ghouls and Ghosts made the game too easy, so they decided to take out all the upwards firing and further exploit the sin that is double jump.

To me, its Touhou. Hard game, but possible to actually win or finish. Beautiful vertical shooter which makes you want to play it or finish, but even the easy mode can kick your ass. Lunatic difficulty are for those inhuman players.

I have never played Battle toads, so i'm gonna have to go to Ikaruga. That game made me cry.
