First of all, I get that bugs that don't bite may be carrying harmful diseases and the like but can we just neglect this for the sake of discussion?

Okay. There is a fly or gnat or other flying insect that doesn't bite buzzing around your head. It has been buzzing around you for ten minutes. It lands directly in front of you, on your desk or whatever.

Do you:

A) Kill it without an afterthought?

or

B) Live and let live

It hasn't landed on you or do anything other than buzz around you. Do you say screw you and kill it simply because of how annoying it is? Or do you let it buzz off as there is no need to kill it.

I would personally kill the insect because it was bugging me. My logic is that insects outnumber us something like 200 to 1.[footnote]Its a fact, I posted it on the internet so it must be true :p[/footnote] My friend however doesn't kill anything that hasn't attacked her. I can see her point of view but I don't value the life of a fly as much as she does.

So, what are your views on this?

[HEADING=2]*crosses fingers and hopes the poll works this time*[/HEADING]

Yay, it worked :D

Edit: I'm told that it is more like 1 000 000 000 to 1. So my fake figures were wrong, go figure ;)

Spiders scare me to hell so it's like a battle royale if there's on in my room. I shut the door, don a work tie around my head and smoke the ***** out. The door doesn't open until one of us is dead.

I had an experience where a moth attacked the man bits as I was about to go in the shower, so I was in mah birthday suit. After that traumatizing experience I vowed any bug that even looked like a moth would suffer the rath of my magazines...

"Die moth! That's what you get for making me think you were going to bite off my junk!"

I'll kill other bugs occasionaly, flies if I can grab them in my hand and spiders if they get close enough. Any and every moth is the enemy though, they will all suffer.

DIE
You have annoyed me. You shall pay the ULTIMATE PRICE.
Then I impale it on a toothpick as a warning for all his kind.

If its in my house, I kill it if I can. If it is too big (and would be gross to kill the basic way) I capture it and basically wait for it to die.
One time though I caught a rather strange beetle (strange for the house anyways) and I kept watching it as it tried to escapse its styrofoam prison. After a day, I felt guilt and let it go.

Spiders will never get mercy though.

Or centipedes (but that may be hate as a gamer)

A few minutes later, the spider casually walks out, lights a cigerette, then walks off....

I think insects out number us like 10 billion to 1. Ants alone probably out number us by that amount, let alone all bugs.

But I'd kill it. I get to choose if it lives or dies, since I have such power over it. I would understand if huge giants in the universe crushed me randomly one day simply because they could. They have the power, and I'd do the same.

If I could, I would erase EVERY fly and mosquito from existence without a second thought.

Mosquitos serve no productive purpose on this earth, they live only to make us miserable.

I have a crippling fear of all insects except spiders, ants, flys, butterflies, and those big ass japanese beetles. Anything else will fall In combat as a valiant foe.

If it's a fly that is trying to bite me or is just buzzing around me then I try to kill it.

if I see a spider only one of us is coming out of that room alive...and I never lose. Which is also the reason I will never go to Australia..those things have life bars there..LIFE BARS!!

If it's something else then let it live. It's not doing anything to me. Unless my sister tells me to kill it. Then my older brother instincts take over and the bug will die...I guarantee it.

If its in my house the bug dies, simple as that. But if its outside and not doing anything to, I just let it live.

I have an irrational fear of just about anything that can be classified as a bug, so I kill it as soon as I can (or scare it away).

Wow you make it sound so bad, killing the innocent defenceless My. Buzzy for little more then that he is naturally annoying. Still if you buzz over here it's a one way ticket to squish city!

Most of the time I will just wave them away and not care, but if they persist and get really, really annoying, I'll kill them, and even then I'll feel kinda bad and regret it a little.

If the insect (or otherwise) is outside, I leave it alone. No point in disturbing it. Inside however is a different issue: flies are killed immediately, moths I attempt to release outside, and spiders I usually leave alone because they eat flies. Unless my mother sees it, otherwise I am required to kill the poor thing because she's a pussy irrationally afraid of spiders.

I kill mosquitoes and their ilk [small](Or at least try to)[/small] on sight, let alone if they annoy me, however, spiders are another story, they kill mosquitoes and their ilk, or at least try to, they are my brothers in arms, and they generally make their webs in out-of-the-way locations [small](for humans, at least)[/small], meaning they don't get in my way, if I really don't want to them around, I just catch them in a bottle and let them loose in the yard.

Insects that don't bite, however, I mostly just try to bat away, now when they refuse to leave me alone? Then I kill them.

I consider it bad karma.

also, I'm very sure I've said what is written in option B a few times to insects that I've removed from my house.

Ones that do get me are spiders though... generally I can ignore them, if they're in my way I have to waot for them to move... because putting them under a glass and watching them skitter about panics me greatly.
