Wow you make it sound so bad, killing the innocent defenceless My. Buzzy for little more then that he is naturally annoying. Still if you buzz over here it's a one way ticket to squish city!
It bugs my friend. I frankly feel the same way you do. I was just posting from her perspective.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
depends how much it bugs me, like if its really really getting in the way then Ill make a feeble attempt to kill it but usually I just ignore them, all the spiders around here tend to be the things that kill them

I kill them. They are annoying, and even if they don't do any real damage, I still don't like them being around me.

Sometimes i kill them, but most of the time i let them live. You gotta let them know whos boss yknow. I also catch 2 or more insects and make them fight to the death.

I leave them alone, or I'll catch them and put them outside. A particularly interesting specimen I might put in a jar, show to anyone who's around, and then let it go.
I just don't believe in intentionally killing anything without a good reason. Self-defense is a good reason (so mosquitoes and ticks I kill with no qualms. I try to do it quickly, though.) Food is too, but I generally don't eat insects.

Someday, the billions of insects whose existence I permitted by rescuing their ancestors will return the favor, swarming to pull me out of a dangerous situation. It will be awesome and kind of icky.

Interesting i should log on this early and see this thread,a few hours ago a huge fly landed on my laptop screen. Seeing it was harmless, i waved it away, and then it flew straight up my shorts and into my boxers.

i can tell you that is one place you do NOT want a buzzing fly. The fly is now squashed under an old book.

Yeah I kill flies, for one they only live a very short life span of what? 1 day? 2 days? so if it doesn't know how not to annoy people why not cut its life short by a few hours.

I don't care about them. If they are attacking me, then they shall die. Otherwise, we can all live in harmony.

Those little ones that love the light on a screen I just shoo away and hope they'll learn but spiders I just keep spraying until it drowns on bug spray

Not so much "live and let live" but more "It takes less energy to ignore you than kill you". It works for most things except those freaking houseflies that sometimes find their way in and have grown to the size of a small bus. If one of them is flying around the room smashing into things with a fairly audible *pink*ponk*ponk* then that little bastard has to die, by fire if at all possible. I even keep this mentality with spiders, and tend to suck up my arachnophobia and either ignore them if they're small or pick them up on a sheet of paper and let them outside if they're of the "If that thing were to crawl on me I would lose my shit" variety.

The one exception I make is earwigs. It's open season 24/7 on those creepy little bastards.

Just because the insect is harmless does not mean it's innocent. It's guilty of the most heinous of crimes - annoying me. The penalty for all crimes by insects is death by crushing.

I more or less agree with this. Even more so I actually enjoy presence of bugs. I find most of them, even the most common fascinating. So no, I rarely ever kill bugs. I don't think the killing of a bug is that bad a thing though. For one they can not feel pain of any kind. So any death you give them is totally painless. Also, they do not feel emotion. They are strictly instinct driven animals.

You're in my space. Your buzzing is annoying. I keep seeing you out of the corner of my eye and it's damn distracting. Sorry, you DIE!

Except that awesome dragonfly that got stuck inside my apartment. I spent an hour chasing that sucker down and catching it, and threw it outside. Somehow, I figure killing something that badass had gotta be bad luck. So, most flying things die. ESPECIALLY if they're born from maggot-stock or especially annoying. Cool flying things get a merciful catch-and-release. Giant moths? Badass. Back outside with you, my slickly-patterned, feathery-antennaed friend!

Indoor spiders suffer a die-on-sight policy, no matter what.
