I easily get emotional over films and books, I even tear up when watching some rather silly cutesy anime. To me it's rather surprising that games haven't affected me that way.

The only game that's come close thus far is Homeworld, when your home is destroyed - attributed to Samuel Barber's gripping "Adagio for Strings".

Maybe because I feel strongly about the medium (games that is), I tend to be very critical and distanced.

This shall be my quest, to find a game that makes me shed a tear!

Nope,

I'm a sucker for movies (cry all the friggin' time, it's embarassing really), I can get into the emotion of the stupidest stuff when movies are concerned, but somehow games can't make that connection for me (I figure the acting and music, framing and timing are never up to par in games).

Some comics hit me pretty hard as well, but books can only make me shrug a little.

Yup.
The end of Mafia (For the PC, which was way better then the Xbox version).
The whole game had such an amazing story. I can't wait for Mafia 2 next fall.

Also: Baldur's Gate 2.
Yup, BG2 made me shed a tear.
When I had everyone facing down Jon Irenicus for the final battle, and everyone was saying their final word before the fight...and Jaheira spoke. I had went the romantic route with her, and after her losing Khalid (And ME losing Khalid, since I loved him in the first Baldur's Gate), after her, basically, venting to me through the virtual romance, and now finally unloading emotionally in her battle cry against Irenicus...it was moving.
I love you Bioware.

For me no. But Rise of Argonauts brought me close. Not becuase the guy's wife dies or whatever was going on in the opening but because it was so obviously trying too hard to be a console game on a PC format. And im sure that the console version is the same.

But no a game has never made me cry.

I'm a stone of emotionless pity that occasionally exclaims at my cat that she is indeed a cat and needs constant reminding of that fact, especially when she jumps onto my table and trys to play games with me. Bad Tilly!

Yeah, to my credit I was eight.
I finally made it to the fight with Gruntilda,at the end of the first Banjo-Kazooie, and I couldn't beat her, after my 8,000th try I threw my controller in rage at my 64... I killed my best friend that day.

I know a lot of people thought the dialogue for Dom was kinda weak but I thought it was believeable if I was in a similar situation I would probably react in a similiar manner (I would say more but I don't want to give anything away.) it didn't make me cry I'm just saying I was able to identify with him.

Yes. Last year, Elite Beat Agents was the first game to draw genuine tears from my eyes. Specifically, the Christmas stage is heartmelting or heartbreaking depending on how well you do.

Absolutely not. I'd never cry over a game, and I damn near cried at the end of FRUITS BASKET, so I think games are pretty low as far as emotional investment goes.

but if a game does make me cry I guarantee it'd be my favorite game of all time for a while.

The ending to Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was as close as I ever got, and I was just kinda bummed out.

And when I was trying to get the Play trophy in LittleBigPlanet. I got so pissed off I was having a hard time containing some of my emotions. (Rage, mainly.) DAMN BUNKER!

EDIT: No, take that back. I remember in 3rd grade, my account got hacked in Runescape. I lost everything I had.

I usually cry at the end of Cold Case episodes, but never when playing games.
If you don't at least tear up at the end of at least one episode, you aren't human.

On-topic, I have cried during several games, most notably Aeris's death in FFVII (mostly due to the damn music) and the ending of FFX. However, I still tear up every time playing Mass Effect after I get to the end of the Virmire stage. Also, Lost Odyssey, in the memorable words of TV Tropes, "doesn't just tug on the heart-strings, it plays them like a harp."

Playing as a Malkavian, bringing up V.V.'s almost-forgotten human name in Troika's Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

I didn't cry, but the melancholy and sudden vulnerability in her voice when she asks me to never mention her real name, her human name, to "let the dead rest in peace", pricked me in a very tender place.

I've seen my share of vampire stuff, some of it pretty good, but it was only in that moment that the entire mythology of vampires became alive and meaningful to me... and so, so sad.

The bit when Zack gets mashed at the end of crisis core made me want to strangle the makers for letting him die:-(

Call of Duty 4. "Oh no Griggs!...and Gaz!...and Capt Price. Damn you Infinity Ward *shakes fist angrily while staring into space in an upward direction* "
