So I was playing Fallout New Vegas yesterday in excitement of the new add-on pack. 5 hours in the game glitched during A short loading period, so I had to restart the game. But something was wrong this time, this time the auto save was corrupted. It wouldn't be A problem but I then realized that my last save was 3 hours before the glitch! I was very angered, I was ready shove Lyrium up the bottom of A Templar, then tattoo "I heart Templars" on the forehead of A bloodmage, and then watch Braveheart and start A Scottish revolution!

So Escapist, has A game glitch ever angered you to never play that game again, or just wait until the dlc comes out to play it?

My copy of Shadow of the Colossus was somehow corrupted, so the game crashed whenever I would beat the final boss. I had to watch the final cinematic on youtube, which was sort of disappointing and not as climactic.

Ruining a game and forcing you to never play the game are two different things in my opinion. To answer the title's question, yes.
The Merrill bug in Dragon Age II ruined the game because it ruined her story. Instead of being floored by what happened, the game told me the results before I had even started. Ruined the surprise and therefore the moment. However, I see that it's patched now, so no worries.
As for a bug that made it so I could never play the game again, I've never come across one of those. I hear Fall Out New Vegas is a true test of patience though, so that sounds like it would be the one game if ever there was one.

Fallout 3. Was practically marathon playing it, hours on end. Got careless and stopped saving, I think around 6-7 hours later, auto-save corrupted. I raged quite hard.

For some reason, repeated crashing and mounting instability forced me to reinstall Oblivion over and over to the point I gave up and waited for the PS3 release. At least that version didn't wipe my saves.

I stopped playing Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl because it locked the lab at Yantar and wouldn't re open and my quick save auto save and current save where all after the door locked.

Mercenaries Playground of Destruction, after getting to Song and stopping the nukes, the stupid fuck FALLS INTO THE OCEAN killing himself and, since you can't swim, leaving him unvarifiable. If you've never played the game, let me tell you getting there can take, even when you know what's coming, and what to do, up to an hour of careful planning and action, and to get screwed over RIGHT THERE AT THE END OF THE GAME is just horrible.
I actually had A similar thing happen to me on mercenaries 2 where I had to verify some guy after attacking A oil rig and every time I loaded and reloaded the battle he gets stuck inside of A wall leaving it impossible to kill him or capture him!

Demon's Souls and me has an unique relationship. I really enjoy the difficulty and general gameplay, and a glitch gets me stuck on a ledge with no method to get out of it after completing most other levels. I'm hoping to get back into the game over the summer, but I can tell I'm going to still be a bit bitter over losing my original save file.

I was always annoyed by the bug in in Oblivion that locked you out of the best fence for the thieves guild.

Wait a minute, how did you manage to cause him to go near water? didn't you clear out the area before he arrived? I don't understand how you got into that situation where you couldn't just run up to him and knock him out without barely any resistance.

I've had some pretty game breaking glitches before but usually I can work around them. I've had one bad design choice kill a game for me though.
Sometimes its as simple as not letting me change mouse/keyboard settings.

Lost a couple of saves in my time playing KotOR on the original Xbox. I could have strangled puppies after that happened.

Never did finish the Tribunal expansion of Morrowind back on the 'box before I got a decent PC. Right before I was supposed to travel to Sotha Sil, the game didn't give me the little item whateverthefuckhernamewas needed to send me there. Shit's on you, Bethesda.

the Soul Calibur 3 data glitch was very annoying. that one where the data file corrupts when you delete data from another game. i was so pissed when that happened.

Let me put it this way ... I do zero death runs in games, so I don't save the game.
At all.

Now, I had thought Mass Effect 2 is a stable game, so no probs just playing until I need to walk away, right?

WRONG.

4 hours in, I was just walking along, around a bit 'o furniture, and I started floating in the sky.

I know I certainly won't look back as favorably on Crysis as I thought at the outset, seeing how the final mission was so spectacularly bugged up the arse that I had to watch the ending on Youtube. And you know what? It was shit.
This is the kind of thing that retrospectively ruins a game for me, even a good one.

Yeah. My copy of Deus Ex glitched, where a vital door wouldn't open. So I stopped playing. Probably should go finish that sooner or later.
