Poll: Has A glitch ever ruined an entire game for you?

When playing POP:WW the game glitched and did weird things to all of my saves. I couldn't be assed starting again so have never bothered to finish it.

I don't know if it was the game, my playstation or the TV, but every time I played MGS it would change the channel just as the Psycho Mantis cutscene finished. Pissed me off. I still haven't finished that game because of it.

Seriously though, my copy of Fallout 2 was bugged. It was impossible to leave the room you start off in once you reach the oil rig at the end.

Now, I had thought Mass Effect 2 is a stable game, so no probs just playing until I need to walk away, right?

WRONG.

4 hours in, I was just walking along, around a bit 'o furniture, and I started floating in the sky.

that has happened to me 4 times in mass effect 2! At least that game has A decent saving mechanic.

Jade Empire had a bug which prevented you from progressing after Silk Fox joined your party because the guards that appeared wouldn't spawn properly so you were stuck in that chamber with the with no means of escape. As a result I was only every able to complete it twice

I have a love/hate relationship with Fallout 3. Last time around I trudged through the opening sequence, relied on manual aiming rather than VATS where possible and was actually starting to enjoy it quite a bit, and then it crashed... again, and again, and again...

At which point I gave up on it. Again.

So I was playing Fallout New Vegas yesterday in excitement of the new add-on pack. 5 hours in the game glitched during A short loading period, so I had to restart the game. But something was wrong this time, this time the auto save was corrupted. It wouldn't be A problem but I then realized that my last save was 3 hours before the glitch! I was very angered, I was ready shove Lyrium up the bottom of A Templar, then tattoo "I heart Templars" on the forehead of A bloodmage, and then watch Braveheart and start A Scottish revolution!

So Escapist, has A game glitch ever angered you to never play that game again, or just wait until the dlc comes out to play it?

In my case, two times recently, a glitch prevented me from playing a game regardless of whether or not I wanted to play it. Mini Ninjas had a glitch where the game did not recognize me picking up coins, so I always had the starting amount of 10 coins, regardless of how many I picked up. I could not buy items, which was sort of necessary to progress.

I think Darksiders had a glitch where a necessary passive upgrade didn't register, and I couldn't perform a block counter attack that was necessary to move forward in the game. I suppose it is possible that out of the many, many times I tried to do it I didn't have the correct timing even once, but I doubt it.

Well, I've been quoted as saying "only n00bs save" ...
"Only n00bs and people who don't want to be infuriated by glithes save" doesn't sound anywhere near as cocky.

Beyond good & evil, a keycard i needed to pass a door infront of me glitched in an unreachable location at about 4/5 of the game through and my last save was when the keycard glitched allready.

IN the PC version of GTA IV there is a glitch that happens to a very (VERY) small group of users that, from what I can tell is random. On the last mission during the helicopter chase the ai helicopter crashes by mistake and the mission just hangs there. Right at the very end. No fix.
Instead of going under a bridge it crashes directly into it.

I have tried different PCs with my save files, same thing happens every time.

It is megafaul.

I even went back to an old save 1 hr in, same problem.

hehehe, that glitch was funny. Of course i can see how from your perspective it would be less amusing

I had an interesting moment in Mass Effect 1: only happened once and I still have no idea why but at the end of one of the four geth bases in Armstrong cluster A short cutscene explaining that there was in fact a fifth base to eradicate ended in me suddenly appearing ten thousand feet above the ground capable only of turning on the spot and admiring the view....

Tomb Raider: Underworld is just one gigantic glitch, i went through using a guide to get all the collectables and by the end of the second level i checked and i was missing most of them :|

Fallout 3 for me. The game kept freezing at certain points and, Well.... I just sort of gave up.

The Force Unleashed II, near the end I think where you break in and board an empire ship, in one of the areas I needed to pull out a battery from a turret to advance but the game didn't give me the option to no matter what. I'd be damned if I was going to start a new one just to figure out if Icould finish it or not

Fable 2... Seriously, it has like 10 major game breaking glitches.

A couple being, your family (spouse and child) just vanish, doors to main quest area's won't open, your character will become frozen and stuck randomly in water...

God so many. And they all happen over and over, one after another, relentless...

Still havn't completed it as the it just keeps dying on one of the final missions, and I've not got the patience to keep replaying sections because of it.
