Poll: Has Diablo 3's always-online mechanic made you more likely to consider Torchlight 2?

Nope! Buying both because both are awesome in their own right. This online DRM stuff is annoying, but to me its just like logging to StarCraft 2 so I don't really care as much. Part of the problem hooray!
This, /shrug doesn't bother me (when it works)

I'm already planning on picking Torchlight 2 up for my wife and I to play.

I won't touch D3 with a ten foot pole (no, I don't want to discuss it).

However, I can get 2 copies of TL2 for less than 1 copy of D3. AND I don't have to deal with the always on problem. AND I don't have to endorse the god-awful Auction House.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

I'm getting Torchlight 2 but I already have Diablo 3 me and my friend like to play co op. They both seem great games for that.

We have had great fun playing Diablo 3 and have only had one time where we couldn't get one which lasted about an hour. Just lucky I guess.

Diablo 3 was bought on something of a whim, and while I've had fun with it, the isometric loot pinata ARPG is an aging formula which has been lapped thrice by the MMO in the intervening decade since Diablo II was a hot new thing. So I'm not really a fan of the genre to begin with, and that goes double in the case of Torchlight, which was something of a soulless pastiche of well worn conventions with the obligatory "one new wrinkle", in this case the (admittedly charming) pets.

Unless Torchlight 2 is some kind of revelation that exceeds the original in quality by exponential degree, I can't imagine being even remotely interested in it.

I was planning on getting both. The only reason I haven't picked up Diablo 3 yet is I refused to pay $60 for a PC game. Once it hits $50, I'll bite but until then, I'll keep snagging stuff off steam on the cheap.

Nope, I love the multiplayer in D3, so being always online isn't an issue to me.

Torchlight 2 sounds really good as well though, I am considering getting both if I can find an demo... but then again, Guild Wars 2 is coming up.

Nope. I'd buy Torchlight because it's Torchlight, just as I bought D3 because it's D3. I can't really agree with the notion that one product having an intrusive form of DRM completely disqualifies it.

Like it or not, D3 is an alright game. It just has a shit rights management system.

I'm not interested in picking up either game, but I think it would send a strong message to cut it out with the stupid shit if a large enough number converted to Torchlight in protest.

I sympathize with those of you whom have shitty internet, but honestly, that's your own fault, not the developers. No offense intended.
I sincerely hope you aren't actually that much of an imbecile.

Anyway, kinda. I'm not huge on this style of game, but I have wanted to try it out for a while. D3 basically killed my interest in the series (will not touch it unless the DRM's removed), and TL2's beta made an excellent impression. So, yeah, it's more likely, but only by virtue of the odds of me looking at the diablo series hit null.

Already planned on buying Torchlight 2 after Diablo 3 did the whole "stream lining" thing with the abilities.

After messing with TL2 beta I'm even more excited about it.

Nah, hadn't even considered buying Torchlight 2. The first Torchlight (I refuse to say "Torchlight 1") was alright, if a bit lackluster, but it didn't impress me enough to want to buy the sequel. As for D3, well I tried the beta and it seemed promising, but these hacking stories are giving me pause. The always online thing in and of itself doesn't really bother me. It did when I fist heard about it, but now it doesn't.

I like the way you think.

Yup. I was going to get both, although I was more interested in torchlight 2. I would've waited a while for D3, but I was going to get it at some point. I still might, but not for a long time until it's really cheap, and that's not certain.

It's made me consider alternatives (and supporting a competitor who markets the game in a way that I can play it is a huge plus), but I'm still waiting to see if Torchlight 2 is worth playing on its own merits first.

Besides, I've been looking for another great LAN game after Terraria (and Borderlands before it).

No it hasn't.

Always online DRM is not a problem for me since I'm always online. If I have such a problem where my internet doesn't work I have other options of single player games I can play(Game of Thrones RPG for example).

Thus far I'm loving the game, although barbarians are a bit broken in Act 2 Inferno. You need act 4 inferno gear to not get 1 shotted while other classes have no problems whatsoever without high end gear.

Nope. I have Diablo 3 and I will get Torchlight 2 when that comes out. Personally the always-online thing is fine by me because I'm playing it multiplayer 90% of the time anyways.

While I don't like it, its more of a result that once servers go down in like 10 years you won't be able to play at all, not because of whatever is supposedly happening now. I played the starter edition since wednesday and bought the game friday. Since then, I've only been not able to log in once cause of server maintenance (on the first day) so I really don't see what everyone is complaining about.

Nope don't even know what torchlight is
On the note of DRM, kind of annoying when you do all of this stuff just to get disconnected and have to do it all over again ON SINGLE PLAYER

nope, i got Diablo 3 on launch day. (even got to play it that day to :D) and am have fun with it

if i wanna play Diablo 2, Torch Light is the LAST place I'd go, I do own Titan Quest and its expansion after all (that, and i dislike Torch Light's art style for some reason)
