Can't say I have any real issues with either company.

EA makes some good games and I've yet to have issue with their distribution program.

Microsoft makes good software and keeps their network secure.

I went through TWO Windows laptops, both having hardware and software failures the moment they were outside of their warranty. And lets not even talk about the ridiculous price of Microsoft Word. (my bank account has cried about this several times while I've been in college)

After my second laptop crashed and burned, I switched to a Mac and I've had few problems since. But warranty is also about to be up, so I'll be keeping a closer eye on it to see if it follows the pattern.

(And I don't really play EA games, so I have no real opinion on them.)

I've noticed over the past few months that the anti-EA rants have been replaced by anti-Microsoft rants.

Personally I am really, really sick of Microsoft because the laptop I bought with Microsoft Word etc never accepted the registration code I had to enter into it after 25 or so uses and now the software's locked down. I had to download OpenOffice to do my writing and I can't load any Microsoft Office attatchments (such as the screenplays for a movie series my sister is making---I'm the script editor) and do anything more than read them--I can't even copy/paste thanks to being locked out.

EA has made a huge number of mistakes--I'm particularly sore about them rushing Dragon Age II and ruining it--but they don't make the hardware/software that is so universal for PC's that problems like mine (above) become major hassles.

So...do you think EA will lose it's top spot to Microsoft next year at the "Worst Company in America" Awards?
Microsoft has decades worth of stupidity and damage to catch up on in order to beat out EA. EA has been doing customer service badly for nearly 30 years. Microsoft has only gone down hill in the last 8-10 years since Bill Gates retired from operations.

I really don't get why people hate company's so much.

Yea they've done some things I don't like so I just shrug and say "yea I'm not gonna buy that"

I don't hold that against the company and call them evil if it makes them money they will continue with it.

Look guys I don't like that some company's do Drm or dislocked content either, How do I respond? I don't buy it

Though I voted they're both equally vile, I tend to hate all corporations by their very nature and treatment of workers. Trying to choose 'nice ones' in the modern world is like asking a serf in medieval Europe to pick whether they preferred a cruel landlord or having their village attacked by Vikings.

the thing is that M$ has been the evil empire for so long now that it is a fact of life, I am not old enough to remember them turning evil. EA is something of disaster I am witnessing in real time, I have over the years seen EA slowly turn into this vile monster before me.

Microsoft is usually more subtle in their evil ways than they were with the xbone PR meltdown, something I think was unintentional after all it took them some time to confirm or deny leaked rumours, if it was up to them we would have discovered the shady stuff at launch.

EA and Microsoft aren't evil, they are just seriously stupid. They make short sighted decisions which cause massive backlashes. However when it comes down to who is stupider, without a doubt EA. Microsoft failed at a console launch, EA have seriously struggled to make a good game for a very long time

Applying worst Company in the World or in America to either of these corporations is a severe injustice. They have made some very bad judgement calls, but they haven't ruined any lives or caused disasters that have ruined ecosystems, like certain large banks and oil companies.

You forget that the marketing department of Microsoft (M$) is based here on earth, while the one at EA (Evil Assembly) is located right next to satans throne.

I'm not too fond of M$, but in all honesty then they simply have too many projects going on and they have turned their attention from usability to availability... and they forget to think before they act.

EA aren't lazy fools like M$... no! everything EA does is carefully monitored and adjusted so that it infuriates as many people as possible. They even bought BioWare and turned them into... into....... some cash grabbing, cow milking, money hungry entity devoid of all passion..

It is almost as if EA sucked the very soul out of BioWare and left nothing but an empty shell.... I am telling you, they are all VAMPIRES!

EA is still much worse.

What's the worst Microsoft has done? The Xbone? That will die a slow death while people scuttle to the PS4. No harm done.

EA on the other hand refuses to die and instead is infecting the game market with crap and more crap. Not so much the quality of the games, but rather all things surrounding it, e.g. DRM, PR, shifting the focus of games (e.g. Dead Space 3). Plus all recent games have failed, some massively.

I don't think either company deserves the title Worst Company in America since there are far worse and far more evil companies than EA or Microsoft. They have both done things I disagree with but nothing to warrant Worst Company in America.

Between the two of them I dislike Microsoft more. Sure, they may have reversed the policies on the DRM issue but they still tried to hold the course for about a week or so and with the stuff about advertising being part of the experience sounds disgusting.

EA on the other hand has done away with Online Passes and seems like they are trying to change their image. Plus, I usually like some of the games EA publishes.

I don't hate Microsoft at all, I consider them a joke, a hilarious, pitiful joke, I love Microsoft - in a very schadenfreude-y way. They're like a retarded puppy, it's beautiful.

I don't mind either of them really. Actually, I rather like EA, however I've never bought a Microsoft console so can't judge them (although I think the Xbox One looks pretty cool)

For me? No, though EA was never huge on my shitlist either. Other than the whole Bioware incident EA being shit doesn't affect me because I have very little interest in most of their games, and for some reason I'm apparently better at analyzing game trailers than most people that get mad hyped for terrible shit like the new Medal of Honor and then are shocked when their grey brown call of duty knockoff turns out to be lame and bland. And hell on a personal level I didn't even see Bioware as a huge travesty (Didn't Like KOTOR, couldn't get into dragon age, Mass Effect was solid but wasn't super into it either)

Microsoft is a shitty company that wants your money, companies are generally that way, most are just better at hiding it. The fundamental thing that separates Microsoft from EA is that even though Microsoft financially might be a bigger asshole, it doesn't directly mess with anything artistic. If you look at Dragon Age and then look at Dragon Age II, you'll see firsthand the kind of a shit EA can make out of something that was initially creative, because they don't care about the actual games they put out. They wanted a sequel in a year, and they wanted the main guy to talk because mass effect did it and someone in marketing said that making it more mass effectish will make it sell better, and fuck everyone and everything, It's got a 2 on it so eat a dick, you'll buy it.
