I'm not about to hold a grudge on this company for 10 years over this incident.

I have no immediate plans to buy an Xbox One though because my decision has always been based on the games.

Nope!

I wasn't planning on getting one before the reveal. I wasn't planning getting one after the reveal. And I'm certainly not planning on getting one now.

The only reason they pulled a complete 180 like this, is because of the reaction to it. Had they not been backed into a corner by Sony and the gaming community like they were nothing would have changed.

I've also had too many bad experiences with Microsoft in this past generation to support another console from them.

If they shaved off the mandatory kinect which would lower the price considerably, made the thing backwards compatible which there is no reason for it not to be, un-shittified the dashboard and stopped screwing indies over and made all my downloadable titles as well as DLC carry over, I would actually consider getting one now.

Not really. I feel like removing the DRM is like putting a bandaid on a headshot wound. There's still the lack of backwards compatibility and the anti pre-owned game software and the mandatory Kinect and the fact that it seems more interested in being an inferior television than a game console.

At this point I wouldn't even consider buying it unless the price came down. And it came with a copy of Killer Instinct 3. And I got it pre-owned (assuming they haven't tried to ban pre-owned consoles by then as well).

Firstly, I would like to say that this was a good move by Microsoft. However a part of me would of been interested to watch a huge corporation march on stubbornly to a product suicide.

On topic: I'm not sure, I'm still not 100% convinced by either console. None of the games have me excited at all so far.

Lastly, can we stop calling it the xbone now? as it Is clearly an Xbox180. This also shows that the current decision cannot be reversed as they already have a 360!!

It hasn't fully changed my position yet, and the WiiU and PS4 still seem like more appealing consoles at the moment. If it gets a decent set of exclusives that I'm highly interested in and know that I'll get, then I'll see about picking it up. Until then, I'm still not sold on it, but at least it has a chance unlike before.

The only thing that the initial screw-up did was make me realize, "hey, Microsoft doesn't have any good exclusives left, I think I'll get the PS4 and save $100 by not getting the required spy-cam." This didn't change that fact. I mean, either way I was going to wait for prices to drop/early-model issues to be resolved before I buy a next-gen console, but unless something horrendous is revealed on Sony's end, that eventual next-gen console will be a PS4, simply because it has better games and costs less. MS might cut the cost over the next couple of years enough that they end up pulling even, but that will only make a difference if they get more good exclusives in that time than Sony does. So yeah, this post basically boils down to "this doesn't change anything."

All it's really done is remove it from my "Avoid at all costs" list. I'm still not paying $500 for a DVD player. If they want me to shell out money I could just use to upgrade my PC, I want to see some fucking exclusives. Even then, I wouldn't buy it until it dropped price and had some games.

It's still a more expensive PS4 that's always watching you. The fact that it's a functioning one now is a significant improvement, but not enough for me to get it.

Hell, I mostly play PC games, so it's probably going to be awhile before I get a PS4, Vita, and Wii U, and the Xbone is well behind those in terms of my priorities, so I can't really see myself owning one before 2018 or so.

Probably. I'm giving them more time before I make the final decision. There is still 5 months for them to try to earn back my "trust"
QFT.

I want to see more value for XBLGold, I want to know if the marketplace is gonna be of better value (IE more competitive pricing-wise) than X360's, and reassurances that X180's Kinect isn't stalking me and can be unplugged when not in use (watching TV, playing a game that doesn't use it, etc.
Well we do start getting 2 free games per month.

It actually might have changed my mind. Right now I`m planning to buy myself a PS4, probably shortly after the release.
I really hope that the WiiU has a few games by the time Bayonetta 2 gets released. It`s my only reason to buy a WiiU right now.

As for the Xbone. I might get on a few years down the line. Right now there are just no games which interest me or I can´t get on another system. So yeah, it changed my mind from "Hell effing no" to "maybe in four or five years"

This is a good improvement, but still too little. The Kinect, the slightly worse hardware and the 100 bucks higher price remains. I still don't see why I should buy it instead of a PS4.
Seeing what horrendously bad decisions they came up with in the first place doesn't leave a good impression for what's to come.

Never wanted one, even before the initial press conference.

Microsoft just doesn't hold any exclusives that particularly interest me, compared to Sony and Nintendo.

Looking at my shelf, I've got dozens of PS3 and Wii titles, about 6 360 ones. Two of which are Fable sequels (and we all know how that turned out). One of which is Prototype, a good-not-great game that's probably not getting a second sequel anytime soon, one of which is Sonic Generations (not an exclusive, of course), one of which is a CoD game, and one of which is Halo 3 (another good-but-not-great title, though I did get some use out of it), the latter two both being purchased by family members.

Compared to the Ps3 and Wii, I hardly got any use out of my 360. I don't foresee that the Xbone would be any different.

It was a step in the right direction, but it was nowhere close to getting me to change my mind. If they got rid of kinect, they would have almost a chance, but not really because I hate Microsoft with a passion.

Nope. I have decided on getting a PS3 and WiiU. I really only get two consoles, last generation I got PS3 and 360, and before that I had a PS2 and a Gamecube. So now I will be able to play all the Wii games I missed. Microsofts conference was gross and turned me off completely.

Wow, look at those poll results. XD

Yes, but there is no option that fits for me. Before, I never would have purchased the system. Now I might someday consider getting it, but it certainly will not be before the PS4 and Wii U.

I have a pretty extensive library of games from the current generation that I'm still playing and trying to finish. A consequence of buying things like a PS3 with over 20 games bundled with it on Craigslist. Although I likely will buy a PS4 and an X-Bone now (before I was not going to at all), I won't be doing it for 2-3 years at least. Not in any hurry to rush out and get something new just because it is. The price will come down eventually to something that's more affordable to me. That and it gives me time to see if the thing's going to WORK or not.

The Wii is the end of the line for me, as a Nintendo console gamer. There's just nothing for it that gets my interest. I think I have 5, maybe 6 titles for it at best? And one of those is a Super Mario retread.

The Kinect, the fact that they're still using cloud processing and the problems with indie developers still keeps me from being interested in the system. It's a lot better than previously, but it's still not interesting for me.

So HAL is still going to be mandatory on every console. Awesome. In that case, I still foresee the military issuing an order that bars service members form possessing these console for that reason alone. The always-on Kinect is a huge security threat to everyone, so militaries the world over are still getting Xboned.

All in all, I was somewhat interested in the cloud gaming features. Being able to remotely share games with friends, even in a limited aspect, seemed like it was the only thing that Microsoft was actually adding to the gaming world. Now that this feature has been cut (for reasons that likely don't actually exist--since we were told the DRM couldn't be avoided at this stage in development), the new console just seems like a graphically more powerful 360. And that seems lame to me. It's clearer than ever that everything Microsoft was trying to get people to accept was simply done to wring more cash out of the consumer while providing less to us.

I don't know if I'll be getting the new Xbox. I feel slightly less like avoiding my local Gamestop or Bestbuy for fear of ending up on a database in Bill Gates' basement, but the biggest draw for me to the original Xbox was owning Halo CE. I bought a 360 over a PS3 because Sony cost so much. When I find myself in a position where the PS4 is cheaper and doesn't leave me feeling like I need a shower after just thinking about it, Halo 5 doesn't seem like a big enough draw to me. Even more so when the only other upcoming game that interests me at all is being released on the 360, PS3, and PS4 as well (Destiny).
