Yes. I called some Marine an ITG for being unable to post in a forum without referring to "librel pussies" and suggested that he always brings up the fact that he's in the Marine Corps because he wants the admiration that the recruiter suckered him into believing that he'd get.

Of course, he flew off the handle at everyone and got banhammered. To this day, I've never seen the words "pussy" and "******" used so many times in a single thread.
Was it that Marine Mike guy? Post a link to the post, please?

He was right anyways, you had no idea what you were talking about and were completely wrong. How about you post what he was responding to as well, then we'll see if everyone else wouldn't have been furious with you as well.
Link to Rolling Thunder's profile?

OT: No, I don't think so. I've sure pissed people off in the past, and convinced a guy that I'm a troll.

People don't seem to get banned for flaming that much on here, unless you mention that you pirated something at one point in time.

Just click on his latest post then fallow the link to his ban post.
Wow... Yeah, I agree with you, Petey Boy. OP should have got the ban, even though Thunder did do a tiny bit of flaming. OP and moderators, I am disappoint.
Me. Banned? Remember, I didn't break forum rules. Different political views are no reason to ban someone. As for his response, it was inappropriate enough for a third party to report him.
I think ignorance and racism should be bannable offenses, but I can't ask that from the mods.

Agreed, I wonder if the mods read the whole argument before launching the hammer. I would have flown so off the handle to a comment like that. I'm surprised that Thunder was courteous enough actually poke all the glaring flaws in OP's argument instead of a constant stream of insults like I would have done.
What really made me angry was how the OP thought he was justified because "his religion gets picked on all the time". I say they should unban Rolling Thunder, and ban or suspend the OP.
I appealed, and so did others. Sadly nothing worked. I guess RT didn't bother to repeal himself. So the mods took no action. Sad to see him go, but I guess theres nothing we can do now.
He should, considering how his ban was very questionable. If you do something stupid, don't appeal, but if it's like what happened to you and RT, it's reasonable to question the ban.

You can be banned for racism, though, I believe.
Yea, but not subtle racism wrapped in a passive aggressive tone. Mods aren't good enough to catch it. They only get the obvious stuff. We'd need double the force to do it.
Oh, I see. I wish the mods would get someone such as you on their force, mainly because they tend to ban things that are humorous (if, a bit rule breaking), or take things too seriously. Some of the things they let get by, and some of the things they don't let get by are just ridiculous.
Ha, I'd make a terrible mod! I think I've made it fairly clear that I am not above the abuse of power. But I digress, I think that there definitely needs to be an increase in number of moderators. Especially ones that will be able to connect directly to the forums on a daily basis. I think the best way of modding would simply be to use the forums, that way you discover a lot more posts that go unmoderated do to such things.

But I digress. The current problem is that people are reporting things becuase they believe they are reportable, not becuase they're offended. That's why, as Meta would say, this forum has become like a day care. Everyone ready to tattle on everyone else because they think it makes them something or another. I don't really understand the thought process. Then of course, when you have people reporting things like minor insults, the mods believe that the general consensus of the Forums is that things like "idiot" or "stupid" are offensive and bannable terms, even though half the people that reported it don't give a damn.

I'm uncertain. I do however remember reading through a thread regarding you, OP, and what I thought was the quoted post. If you're quoting posts, why didn't you quote your own as well? I think that deserves to be included, even if only for the topical relevance. You seem to be proud, excuse me if I am misunderstanding here, of having another user banned.

Here is his post, quoting yours:

YES, free speech is very important. Besides people rip on my religion all the time! Why should Islam be spared?
And unfortunately they have bothered us, and continue to. Just because it is not happening in north America (besides 9/11), does not mean that it does not bother us. Muslims who follow their magical book to the letter WILL and are allowed to kill those who do not join or denounce their religion (100% sure, took several world religions courses). The Muslims have started more wars than the Christians have (I am about 80% sure).
You really are bloody stupid, aren't you? I mean, seriously? You don't list how Muslims are bothering you, you categorise all muslims as Quaranic literalists (Which is as valid an argument that all Christians are Biblical literalists, and thus equally retarded), an argument I can disprove because I have one Muslim friend who is not, and thus your argument disintergrates. I have also made several extremely rude jokes with Muslim acquaitances about them being

Also, you have no notion of history. Seriously.

Wars started by Christians:

11 Crusades.
The 30 Years War
The Hundred Years War
The War of Italian Succession
The First World War
The Boer War
Norman Conquest of Sicily
Norman Conquest of Britain
Byzantine-Norman Wars
"Drang Nach Osten"

That is one fuck-load of wars.

In short, get the hell back into high school and off my damn forum.
It is not to illustrate anything other than maybe people shouldn't be so proud over having someone banned. In this case I personally cannot see reason for a ban. People get fired up when talking about religion, in this case very much so because one party (you) is writing things that are either incredibly ignorant, or simply bigotry.

OT, AGAIN:
No, I don't believe I've ever gotten anyone banned. I've been on probation and been suspended a couple of times myself though, and my brother was recently banned from here (Catchphrase) for acting like a huge asshole. He was a good guy though, and most of his posts weren't complete bile.

Now please excuse me, I'm off to hover over the next pond.

Are you suggesting that people now report because they are loosing an arguement, or disagree with the poster rather than have actually been offended? If it's true, it's a real shame. I've been more than one hot head been banned from these forums now and it's always a shame, they brought something interesting to the forums and arguements sometimes can get a little stale.

Also, you as a mod would mean death to the french and liberals. As a liberal with French ancestory I'm scared :)

Again, I did not break forum rules, however I will participate in an effort to unban him, as a sign of forgiveness. Read the rest of the thread, there was plenty of poking back.
You showed utter ignorance towards another religion, by attempting to offend someone else's beliefs in the name of "free speech".

And don't try and tell me that your post wasn't offending those of another religion.
Why do I need to respect another religion? Look at south park, family guy, even the Simpsons. They do not respect religion and yet receive millions of views (and lots of flack). I am fine with taking flak, but what makes Islam immune to the criticism that other religions, and even I get? If I say "Mohammad was a paedophile" does that make me racist even though it is true?
South Park and the Simposons = humor.

You = something that will get me banned.

Islam is not immune to criticism. Valid criticism, as in criticism that is backed up with facts not pulled out of ones ass. Like in you an RTs argument, where you said every war started by Arabs is the fault of Islam, yet every war started by Christians don't count.

The age of consent in most of Europe up untill the second World War was under 13. Ages from 10 to 13 were typically acceptable in western countries during the mid-19th century.

And for the millionth time I've said this.

I don't support pedophilia (God no) but I would like to point out that nature, not laws based on arbitrary numbers, determines when a person is physically sexually mature.

But yes, it is sadly true. And I could name a list of people who I suspect of this behavior. With much evidence to support my claims. But there's nothing we can do. Maybe a PSA on when and why to report?

JimmyBassatti said:
Indeed, people do report too much on here. Everything your friend has said is true, and it needs to be dealt with. I wish you could get probated, or suspended, for abusing the report button. Unless you know for certain they broke the rules, don't hit the report button, people!
Here's a better one. Only report when you believe someone has gone out of line. Not when you think they might, or when you think someone may be offended.

While my post didn't get him banned on his own, he was banned for insulting me despite. A few of my friends came to defend me and I contacted Labyrinth to close the thread. I also informed New Classic that it was a guy who had ban jumped multiple times actually and he was gone the next morning.

Another case would have been a guy who was trying to jump around a suspension. I informed Kulani and he and his alternate account were both banned.

A PSA wouldn't do much for those members who you already suspect, but certainly for new members it would be a good idea. When I first joined it would have been helpful, I know that much.

I personally just don't report anymore, it was another escapist member who told me he didn't anymore just because normally when we report we are either overeacting or just don't understand. Sure, that might mean a clear troll gets reported in 5 mins instead of 4 but I get to have a clear conscience and I know I wouldn't have got anyone like RollingThunder banned. Of course, what I do doesn't solve the problem just makes me not share the guilt.

What would be interesting is a trial system for older members. Yes, stop laughing at me. STOP. Jesus dude, your mocking hurts me. Ok, anyway. What I mean is, if an older member is about to get banned by the mods perhaps let some impartial members look over his offending post (and previous ones) and let them decide whether he shouldn't be part of the community anymore. I'd certainly sign my name up to get called up for reviewing users, though i'd doubt i'd suggest many bannings. But perhaps just the idea you where put up for review might make you second guess yourself. I don't know, I'd doubt the mods would want to give power to the users anyway, but at least i'm attempting to think of solutions.

Now that is a good idea. With a simple trial system the "Offending" member could be properly evaluated and a one off bad taste post would not result in a ban.
