It's never happened to me. Then again, I try to avoid situations such as getting someone banned because of the way they replied to a post of mine. Personal attacks are beyond pointless.
Agreed, have a good time on the rest of the Forums.JimmyBassatti said:Sounds good to me, looks like we are done for the day, right? Time to do other things, in other threads.
I have ceased to report as well, unless actually trolling or flaming. For example a someone tat post goatse will swiftly get a kick to the button, or someone who responds to an argument with only insults and no points, or uses excessively vulgar language. However, a heated debate is a heated debate, there's no point in stopping in becuase someone's feeling [i[might get hurt[/i]. It cripples discussion, which we here love.Demon ID said:A PSA wouldn't do much for those members who you already suspect, but certainly for new members it would be a good idea. But yes, it is sadly true. And I could name a list of people who I suspect of this behavior. With much evidence to support my claims. But there's nothing we can do. Maybe a PSA on when and why to report?
.
I personally just don't report anymore, it was another escapist member who told me he didn't anymore just because normally when we report we are either overeacting or just don't understand. Sure, that might mean a clear troll gets reported in 5 mins instead of 4 but I get to have a clear conscience and I know I wouldn't have got anyone like RollingThunder banned. Of course, what I do doesn't solve the problem just makes me not share the guilt.
What would be interesting is a trial system for older members. Yes, stop laughing at me. STOP. Jesus dude, your mocking hurts me. Ok, anyway. What I mean is, if an older member is about to get banned by the mods perhaps let some impartial members look over his offending post (and previous ones) and let them decide whether he shouldn't be part of the community anymore. I'd certainly sign my name up to get called up for reviewing users, though i'd doubt i'd suggest many bannings. But perhaps just the idea you where put up for review might make you second guess yourself. I don't know, I'd doubt the mods would want to give power to the users anyway, but at least i'm attempting to think of solutions.
Catchphrase was banned? Awww. He was a prick, but a brilliant and hilarious one.s0denone said:OT, AGAIN:
No, I don't believe I've ever gotten anyone banned. I've been on probation and been suspended a couple of times myself though, and my brother was recently banned from here (Catchphrase) for acting like a huge asshole. He was a good guy though, and most of his posts weren't complete bile.
So you're just going to completely ignore my valid rebuttal to your flawed argument? Cooool.Hashime said:Now that is a good idea. With a simple trial system the "Offending" member could be properly evaluated and a one off bad taste post would not result in a ban.
Read the rest of my posts in that thread relating to my spat with Rolling Thunder, they are on the same page as his ban post. I believe that should clear up your concerns. As for the Muslim thing, it is kind of off topic for this thread. We have kind of hijacked it.Pimppeter2 said:Agreed, have a good time on the rest of the Forums.JimmyBassatti said:Sounds good to me, looks like we are done for the day, right? And Gods speed.
Dun dun dun.

The appeal proceeds does work. (I've proved it countless times) Now its just up to the users to make wise decisions. The trial system would be nice, though it may open up tension and bad blood between members. The appeal system is fine, like I said, now its up to the users to make informed decisions.

While I can only hope he will not see this, as I would never live it down, I must say I tend to agree with you. I seem to recall him consistently linking people websites of adult diapers. I found the randomness of that absolutely hilarious.Pimppeter2 said:Catchphrase was banned? Awww. He was a prick, but a brilliant and hilarious one.
Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if this is happening already.Demon ID said:Are you suggesting that people now report because they are loosing an arguement, or disagree with the poster rather than have actually been offended? If it's true, it's a real shame.
Neither would I and thats a very sad thing, anyone else find it hiliarious the original poster is now banned, I mean I feel sorry for him (anyone who gets banned really) but you got to admit, it's kinda funny.Wardnath said:Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if this is happening already.Demon ID said:Are you suggesting that people now report because they are loosing an arguement, or disagree with the poster rather than have actually been offended?
