The Wii already made me wary of Nintendo consoles. Yeah, it had Twilight Princess, Galaxy 1 & 2, Corruption, and Xenoblade Chronicles, but it was mostly disappointing. Then the WiiU released with no real promise in any of Nintendo's major franchises, and even now it's been mostly barren. Hyrule Warriors is the only non-remake Zelda game. Mario platformers were just WiiU versions of what is already on the 3DS. The only Metroid game for the console won't even really be a proper Metroid game. The Star Fox game has mixed reception. There's nothing from F-Zero, Custom Robo, or Fire Emblem (not counting Mirage Sessions).
Yeah, there was Pikmin 3, but I was never a huge fan of that series. There's also Splatoon, but I generally don't like multiplayer-only games.
So all that's really there is a new Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Maybe I'd find more once I get into it (I'd imagine I'd eventually get around to Hyrule Warriors and the Mario games), but I don't feel like investing a lot in a console that really only has three games selling itself.
That said, I'll keep my eyes on the NX. But just like with the WiiU, Nintendo will have to prove they're willing to deliver a console that I can get into, not have a new game every few years. As a long-time Nintendo fan, I'm hoping they pull it off. It's not like I find enjoyment from Nintendo's failures, but they're not exactly helping me to like them anymore either.
