No so much tastes but definitely my habits.

Used to be a competitive gamer, played years of CS1.3-1.6 in leagues, having PCWs every night, clan matches on Tuesdays, Thursday & Fridays.

I tried again with BF2 but dolphin diving ruined the game early on, I think many people didn't both to go back.

Still play any and all genres, apart from JRPGs, as that archaic gameplay should've died out years ago.

I started off playing RTS games before playing FPS and then later RPG games. I rarely seem to play RTS's. The golden age of the genre has long since passed.

I'm 22 and in my younger days I didn't have the patience for RTS. Always loved Starcraft and C&C but just didn't have the patience to get any good at them. Still not very good at rts, but nowadays I can beat most of my friends no problem.

Way way back I always avoided racing sims in favor of more arcade-y titles like NFS. When I got my 360 a few years back I put a few weeks into the copy of Forza 2 it was bundled with and really had a good time. I was really honestly astounded by how much fun I had.

One thing i know for certain, I will always love FPS. My dad was a gamer and got me started on FPS at age 4 or 5 with a little game called Catacombs and the rest is history.

Nope. I still love the genres I always did. Shooters both Third and First person. Stealth games, RPG's, Hack 'n Slashers, Action, Adventure, Strategy Turn based and Real time. Only genres I don't like are the ones I have never liked, Racers and Fighters. Oh, and J-RPG's. Can't forget J-RPG's

I used to be absolutely dominated by RTS' but then I moved onto RPG. I still occasionally play an RTS but my main lover is a good RPG.

When I started gaming I was kind of a pussy, so anything like a FPS I'd be too apprehensive to play. I used to play RTS' and RPGs.

Now I'm really into FPSs. RTS and RPG are still fun for me, and I like to get involved still, but the main games I play are FPS now :)

I play the sames through the years, but since I am slightly less a pussy that I was when I was a kid I can play scary games without peeing my pants.

I don't think it has much. The only thing that has changed was that I can now play the more mature titles, expanding the range of titles I can play.

I went from playing only Halo to playing other shooters to (now) playing a bit of everything and growing a little bored of shooters.

Lesse:

80s: Oregon Trail, Paperboy, Carmen Sandiego.

Early 90s: Side scrollers, Duck Hunt.

Late 90s: WWF, Tony Hawk, Goldfinger, Zelda on PS1, Star Wars, Furcadia, Heroes of Might & Magic 4.

Late 2000s: City builders & fantasy RPGs.

Yup, I'd say they have.

I've never really payed attention to whether or not my taste in games have changed. But, for the most part, it has stayed the same give or take a few changes.

The one thing that stands out most is my tolerance for bad writing. I look back on games I enjoyed as a teenager, and the dialogue, story, characters, etc. are fucking awful. Now I'm a lot less forgiving; if the protagonist is a fucking twit (Uncharted springs to mind), I just don't play the game.

I used to play a lot of fighters, platformers, and JRPGs.

Now I mostly play FPSs, sandbox games, and WRPGs.

I really can't tell if it's because my tastes have changed, or if it's because the different genres are generally marketed to different age groups. Not many 20-somethings are itching to play Spyro, and 10-year-olds should probably stay miles away from Saints Row. Am I merely a product of my environment???
